Hello guys!
Captivate "expert" but Note noob here :D
I got one just today with CM9 but some key features for me are missing so I am either going to flash this to stay away from ICS danger for now or maybe even try ICS.
If I want to use this ROM , which looks like the most popular GB Rom, coming from ICS. Do I need anything else than just the usual dalvik, reset data etc or do I flash another kernel first?

Also, I used to have heimdell setup with my Captivate. You guys think I need to remove previous drivers just in case?
Thanks

if you are on cm9 nightlies, just flash via mibile odin lpy stock with both wipe cache checked, let the stock lpy boot installing additional libraries, reboot into recovery, flash this rom and you are done.

Why Confused

I thought LPY was ICS and the one causing all issues flashing from recovery. I am confused.
Why are you confused? it is because you refuse to read properly, read again and you will understand that the problem only arises if you execute a full wipe via CWM Recovery or anything if you choose to believe, plus until today only 1 user got into this problem, so it is a recommended believe and not mandated.

then you read again, in any part of my steps did I endanger your phone?

Please, do yourself a favour, read and understand and not just read for the sake of reading.

I have been reading a LOT and everyone seems to give a different story so if I am flashing a GB rom I thought that most people was recommending to just flash a GB kernel first then flash any ROM I wanted (including ICS).
Ultimately if it pisses you off so much then dont fing answer my post.
There are more people with better manners.

Nope, I am not pissed, I am only worried you do not totally understand and spoils your phone or actually waste unnecessary time.

The GB part is to go into a safe environment, the EMMC bug only happens if you do a full wipe via any ICS Rooted Kernel.

So I recommend you to Mobile Odin in GB and full wipe installing LPY Stock. You are safe because you are still on GB rooted kernel.

The difference here is some custom rom has the built-in libraries embedded while some don't, to not waste time, let the LPY Stock boot and install these libraries for you.

After installed, go into recovery and wipe both cache only, flash the new intended rom, and you will be fine, especially apps like Snote requires these libraries and you will not regret.

Here you need not do factory wipe because you had not enter any damaging data into your system, just wiping cache is sufficient.

You mis-read my tone, my concern is you do not take any wrong step because it might be dangerous to your phone and not my effort and time explaning, as long as you understand, all is worth it.

Just adopt this single steps to flash, you will never go wrong.

Thanks I appreciate the clarification and detailed explanation.
I would do like you say.
I am thinking maybe I can give ICS a try as well as long as I dont do anything stupid but for now , I will install this GB first.
Thanks mate :)

OK I am now running this ROM and looks sharp. Only thing is, I get no network 3G only wife. I am in the USA. Could be a modem thing or do I need to configure something?

UPDATE: Fixed....

Don't think so, my 3G is fine and I am in ASIA. suggest you flash / test LB2 Modem.

BTW, you flashed only Version 3 after Stock LPY, right?

The zip file with the missing apps is not flashable through CWM. It contained all the apps and it's your job to push the .apk you want in
/system/app folder so that they can be installed with the rom.

Hope that helps.
