Thanks for the assistance..I'm now able to install kyle open ROM on s duos..but I would like to know that how to over clock the CPU..currently it doesn't allow me to over clock its on 1ghz..want it to over clock to 1.2ghz..please advice..thanks

Either cheatsman or VamshiStunner may be able to make such kernel
Once we have OC supported kernel they can overclock it a lot more higher like 1.8 GHz

List of compatible Add-Ons:

These add-ons provide additional functionality to the ROM and do not bork already existing features. None of them are mandatory and you can install only the ones you want. To remove an add-on that was flashed using CWM, simply reinstall the KyleOPEN ROM again and the add-ons you want to keep. There is no other way to uninstall a CWM package with ease.

• Samsung S Voice - Copy to device and flash using CWM zip installation. Original work and hacks by Wanam for SGS2.
• Seeder (entropy booster) - Improves the overall responsiveness of the phone. Download from original thread and install as APK. Credits go to lambgx02 for this add-on.

List of compatible kernels:

• Stock insecure kernel - stock XXALJ4 kernel with "adb root" access. Unzip and flash with ODIN.
• VamshiStunner Kernel - Stock kernel with additional CPU governors. Flash directly with ODIN. Credits go to VamshiStunner for his work on this kernel.

And are there any requirments for baseband?

The kyleopen device framework (kyleopen is samsung codename for our phone) does NOT have an sdcard (i.e. internal memory).

What this means:
The Galaxy S Duos has only one flash drive shared between the system partition and the data partition. They are logically separated, but reside on the same physical drive / device.

This means that:
The Galaxy S Duos cannot move apps to sdcard because the sdcard and internal memory are one and the same. Therefore, you can only move apps to the external SD (which is your external microSD card).

How to do it:
Use Link2SD. Get it from the market. Take your microsd, back it up, repartition and format it into two active FAT32 partitions and restore your data to the first partition (windows will only see the first one anyway. Then, use Link2SD to link applications to the external SD card. Lookup info on Link2SD on google and in the market for more details.

The ROM uses XXALJ4 as a stock base. I chose the XX as release due to it being "cleaner" to begin with ( XX = Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom). As a side note, the ROM does not touch / change baseband at all and does not flash modem drivers.

Let's go through a complete summary of what the ROM does NOT do:

• Does NOT flash new radio firmware
• Does NOT change baseband
• Does NOT flash a kernel (you have to manually flash one)
• Does NOT flash a new recovery
• Does NOT format your external SD
• Does NOT work if you are running another kernel than listed in the first posts

All in all it's pretty safe to flash. In any event you can recover your device by downloading your stock firmware of choice from www.samfirmware.com. All you need to do is be able to boot in download mode.

I can't really start doing kernel development for this device yet. However, I expect it to overclock no more than 1.4GHz in a pretty stable configuration and 1.7GHz maximum. Overclocking it would create little performance boost as the lack of a properly performing GPU (i.e. graphics card) will still prevent the device from rendering HD video and most HTML5 intensive web pages. Menus and scrolling would improve a little though

We would need a complete OS overhaul, which is impossible at this time because CyanogenMod has no support for Dual-Sim configurations, so that means a LOT of work and code to write. For the time being we are stuck with the Samsung Dual-Sim phone, contacts, messaging and settings packages. Which means we need to stick with the Samsung framework-res.apk. Which is bad... and we should feel bad...

PS: because dropbox is threatening to cancel my account due to heavy traffic, I have mirrored the ROM on Google Drive as well. It's nice to see the ROM is popular. Thanks for the support guys and let me know if you find bugs or have suggestions to improve the ROM.

@iamsamratM: 15 minutes is too much. I assume you have a galaxy duos phone. Please look at the first post and tell me if you can get in download mode and recovery mode. If you can, please relax, you can restore your phone. Enter download mode, download v3 kernel, flash it using ODIN, boot in recovery mode, flash the ROM zip again. Also, clear your davlik cache and all other caches. Also do a full wipe after you install the ROM. This should fix all problems.

@jimmykar: I was able to reproduce the bug. Thank you for reporting it. However, this is a problem with the Trebuchet launcher package version I have put in the ROM, not a problem with the ROM. Essentially, the manifest XML of the Trebuchet launcher has a few permissions it shouldn't have. To test this, install a different launcher from the market and test the widget. It should work fine. I am having trouble finding standalone versions of trebuchet at this time, so solving this might take a while.

@man2droid: The latest and best kernel is the v3 (last one in the list). But please bear in mind that it's not the kernel being slow, it's the phone. Try installing Seeder and setting the CPU to use "ondemand" governor and "sio" schduler. This helps with performance.

We still don't have OC kernel so can't overclock it as of now

@cheatman: can you add the vold.fstab mod for swapping internal and external sd cards? I felt many of us might need it as our phone has little internal memory all downloads and other stuff go in it

I have been running your ROM for a while now and it is lag free and much better than stock rom

Also if you are planning to add init.d scripts can you add app2sd script too?

In your ROM flashing tutorial you said that everything n phone except sd card will be erased but nothing got erased from my phone so you can edit it

on kylerom1.0.3 i am not able to use internet, all each and every time browser closed and displayed error "unfortunately internet closed " also in dolphin browser it will not work

Have any others Problems with the Internet Explorer in this Rom?
When i want type lettters in a Website keyboard dont open and the internet explorer close after a short time.
And the second is, i cant open the wheather settings in lockscreen.

Any Others with this problem ? Whats wrong on my phone ?

@man2droid: the browser is stock so no changes have been made there. Maybe try clearing the cache? I am using Chrome and have no issues.

@allspark2020: init.d script support is already in the latest kernel. The ROM had it to begin with. Also, vold.fstab cannot be used for our phones. We need to use /system/sbin/sdcard binary, but it does not accept any mount point other than /mnt/sdcard. This means we cannot mount /data/media as external SD. I have, however, been able to mount the external SD as sdcard and use my microsd as internal memory, but I don't think this scenario is acceptable for users in general. Some may not have microsd cards. Maybe I will release this as an add-on. In any case, the internal memory won't be usable anymore, only microSD (and you need a fast microSD).

@heartblue: the ROM supports Portugues both Brasil and Portual variants. See above explanation for microSD storage. I will NOT make youtube videos for the simple process of installing a CWM zip. Thanks for your kind words.

@Ceejay72: weather widgets were removed in this ROM.

Maybe I will make add-on to disable internal storage (make it all available to /system) and only use microSD as internal memory. I will think about it later today and run some tests. This should be extremely easy to do, but I need to make a new kernel to disable sdcard fuse filesystem from being mounted. Then all can be done through vold.fstab modding.

Would anyone be interested in this?
