Yeah, I was getting these problems too. Best solution is to use other theme, (MotoMoto) Or flash some other theme that you like, I'm working hard trying to repair that problem

Ok. I made a fix for that. Download me! If you want to have transparent status bar, flash it before installing fix Anyway 5.0 ver is comming really soon, and is already fixed!

Hi I'm keen to try this ROM but am a bit noobish. If I want to change DPI lower, e.g. 260, would I just edit build.prop ?

I assume then a few apps would be visually corrupt like camera, dialer. To fix that, could I just install xposed app and modify per app DPI?
I'm unsure if xposed is compatible with simplistic in the same ROM

To change DPI just edit build.prop using rom manager in example. I don't think that xposed can repair apps. You can download custom camera app or go sms pro app from google play to get better in-app look. Most of apps should work in 260 DPI. And in Themes and apps section. Is thread about stock resized to 260 DPI apps.

Thanks. Xposed DPI module doesn't repair apps but allows individual apps to have different DPI than build.prop.

... Anyway! Try restarting phone, did you clear cache and dalvik before installing 5.5?
