Just got an S3, it already had the OTA update to 4.4.2 (ND8)
I have flashed philz recovery and have root access.
I was seconds away from flashing MIUI V5 4.6.6 when I read that flashing roms on ND8 can brick the device.
In all of my experience once I got the custom recovery and root, that was the hard part, the flashing is the easy part.
Is there truth to this? If I flash a JB based MIUI will my device be bricked?
If I flash any rom will my device be bricked?
I also just got my galaxy about 2 weeks now. And I updated it to official kitakat. Then I flashed to this miui just fine. My phone is NDC

That is false information, you can flash any ROM on ND8, you just can't downgrade your firmware.

Carrier Label

Hi,

Im running MIUI-4.8.1 and I get the "Verizon Wireless" label.
Is there anyway to fix this so it reads the real carrier, Sprint in this case?

Thanks

You can fix your self by swapping out the eri.xml and APN.xml in frameworks-res.apk in the xml folder with a cm one

  1. Go to Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > Select CDMA
  2. Go to Phone > Dial *#*#4636#*#*
  3. A new window appears, click on Phone information > Scroll down and under "Set preferred network type:", select "LTE/CDMA auto (PRL)"
  4. Reboot if you still don't have 4G.
This will get your lte on

Dial *#*#4636#*#* go to phone info then in preferred network drop down select LTE/CDMA auto(PRL) after selecting it and you don't get data toggle airplane mode and it should come up
