Correct APN for Non-LTE Sprint android devices

I've seen so much confusion about APNs with respect to Epic 4G (SPH-D700) ROMs.

I know this information can be found elsewhere.

But for the sake of clarity, non-LTE Sprint devices cannot send MMS over LTE / EHRPD APNs.

The reason is as follows: The LTE / EHRPD towers have software on board that listen for data sent from the old EVDO system. As a result, non-LTE / EHRPD deveices send data through the old system, then the data is transmitted to the new LTE / EHRPD system for translation via the onboard software.

Long story short, use the non-LTE / EHRPG APN with all Epic 4G (SPH-D700) ROMs based on CM 10 or CM 10.1.

For the sake of this ROM, I have posted the correct APN info below:

Code:
<apns version="7">
	<apn carrier="Sprint"
         	mcc="310"
         	mnc="120"
         	apn="Sprint"
         	user="Sprint"
         	server="*"
         	password="*"
         	mmsc="http://mms.sprintpcs.com"
         	authtype="3" />
</apns>

OK so I've made my apns-conf.xml file but how do I get this on to my phone or edit the one on the phone? If I need to use adb could I get some instructions on what exactly I need to type in? Thanks

OK you will have to open apns and pick your APN save and reboot I have been told that the edits work... Use voice dialer and say "open APN"

Editing APN on SuperNexus

OK so I've made my apns-conf.xml file but how do I get this on to my phone or edit the one on the phone? If I need to use adb could I get some instructions on what exactly I need to type in? Thanks
Voice Dialer does not work on this rom (at least not my install).

1. Download the latest ES File Explorer.
2. Grant it Super User permissions.
3. Once that is done, go into ES side menu and choose Root Explorer.
4. Mount your Root and System folders as R/W.
5. Navigate to /System/etc and open the file apns-conf.xml with the ES editor.
6. Open app menu and choose edit.
7. Save.
8. Or you can simply rename the original apns-conf.xml file to apns-conf.xml.bkp, then copy and paste your new file to the folder.

To select Sprint APN
1. Download Nova Launcher
2. Create an Activity Link on one of your home screens to the system setting APNs.
3. Click the link to open APNs.
4. Select Sprint via radio button.
5. Restart phone.

Low Volume

Anyone know how I can increase the media volume. It's super low. I have voodoo controls installed but still nothing. It used to be loud before I installed this ROM. I've tried different kernels with no luck. I tried apps on the market. No luck.

Any ideas?

I know you gotta post the third post tomorrow so I'd step in.
Are you on a carrier other than Sprint? If yes, flash Alternative Carrier Fix in stickies. If not... Check with Sprint to make sure data is on in your area, this ROM itself is not where the problem is. :)

    Yea, I check his Goo.im a couple times a day to see what new tidbits have turned up! lol
    He posted a new TRaK on the 17th, but that's his "basically stock" kernel, according to him. I think I might have n00bed him to death though, he hasn't responded to my PMs from last weekend :eek: haha Wherever he's lurking, he might be interested to know that the latest Nitest that Didhy compiled fixed the my Voodoo Colors issue I had been bugging him about :D

    Bad at keeping track of xda messages. The latest track is 3.0.72 kernel instead of stock 3.0.56 thanks to didhiy. Same no mdnie, tweaked govs and io sched, and some other small improvements. More to come later. Hope to get the files to unjust tomorrow or tonight if he's up in 5 hours

    Working on a nitextxfc release still, minor issues on that, and mainly working on xylon. Got the bt issue mostly figured out so its almost good to go.

    you can update the version by applying incremental patches
    https://www.kernel.org/diff/diffview.cgi?file=/pub/linux/kernel/v3.x/incr/patch-3.0.72-73.xz
    download and extract the patch, then
    patch -p1 < patch-3.0.72-73
    do the same for each update

    ...[*]This will turn your Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4G into a Nexus 4

    LOL let's say it doesn't, when you only flash the ROM you turn your device into a Nexus S because by default you don't get Nexus 4-ish onscreen nav keys, and (I say it again) modding this out via build.prop will make the OSN look big and ugly. So here, to make this ROM match the "Nexus 4" promise, here I packaged a modded framework-res flashable zip to enable a SIZE-MODDED onscreen nav key experience.

    As usual I don't guarantee the zip will work so back it up before flashing!

    Don't forget to use Nova/Apex/Holo to create a shortcut for "Advanced Settings" app and disable capacitive key lights!! You know that looks BEAUTIFUL! :)

    @unjust Maybe consider adding this to OP? :D
