Before you install CM10.1: Preparation (First three are optional. If you want to start fresh, these can be skipped)
  • Install AppBak from Market, run it and save a list of all your apps.
  • Install SMS Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your SMS history.
  • Install Call Logs Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your call log history.
  • Boot into recovery. Make a full backup. You will need this backup later if you decide to go back to your previous ROM and data.

WARNING: Many apps will Force Close crash if you restore data from a previous ROM.

Install:

  1. Use CWM5, CWM6 or TWRP.
  2. Wipe data and cache.
  3. Flash ROM zip
  4. Flash gapps*.zip. You must flash gapps after every upgrade to CM10.1 since /system is formatted, wiping your previous add-ons.
  5. Reboot phone.
  6. After you setup your Google account, reinstall the three apps from Market in order to restore most of your apps, call log and SMS history.
  7. Warning: Do not restore backup of system apps

Upgrades

Upgrades from previous versions of CM10.1 are the same process as install, except you do not need to wipe anything. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to even wipe cache and dalvik-cache when upgrading between CM10.1 versions. You only need to wipe if you are doing a major upgrade, switching to a different ROM entirely, or attempting to fix bugs caused by bad backups or corrupt app data.

FAQ

1-) No dev settings? No Performance options? Where is it?
- Easter egg in 4.2. You have to go into About Phone and tap Build Number 7 times.

2-) It won't boot into recovery. What the hell man?
- Turn off touch key sounds.

3-) Why doesn't data work?
- Turn on Airplane mode then off.

4-) Mass storage isn't working. How do I fix this?
- Go to Settings -> Storage -> Tap on menu button -> Connection -> Choose mass storage.

Flashing gapps made the phone slower than it should be. Thought I should warn everyone.

Edit: Ah nope sorry. It was just a momentary thing after boot.

Edit2: Yeah... It did make it slower. Lags a bit with gapps.

Ahh, sorry guys. HW decoder doesn't work in this build. Please wait while I fix it. I will reupload a new build in a few hours. Also USB mounting but I need to rebuild for that as well.

Take your time :good:

15 minutes, only 1% battery lost :D

Great that you've released a build for CM10.1 :D

I have a few questions:

How important is HW acc? Will games run much slower etc? What if Qualcomm never releases their libs?

Why does this rom have ~5 MB less memory then ivendors cm10? The camera isn't even working so shouldn't there be a lot of more memory in this rom?

HW acc is pretty important actually. HW acceleration means that the GPU helps out instead of the CPU doing everything. 3D games lag a bit on this because Qualcomm hasn't released their libs for 4.2. They said they would release it soon 2 months ago :/.

It has less memory because of arco's latest changes in his sources. It makes it much stabler so it is a good thing. If any of you want I can make it bigger but I don't see the point. I can also add governor's and some modifications to the kernel but I think it would be best to keep this stock.

Noooo man didnt mean it like that!
Your doing an amazing job! I remember when cm9 was released for the first time, we had to wait for a really long time before the rom was usable. It not only lagged allot, almost nothing worked (which was fine offcourse, the result is amazing).
You are doing things faster than arco did on cm9, that says allot about your qualities as a developer ;)

Not trying to disrespect other peoples work, but just to clarify - of course it goes faster since the base work has already been done. The initial work on every new device is always the hardest, getting the config and vendor stuff up and running. After that it's just a matter of tweaking and adapting. And not to mention the kernel, which often needs a lot of stuff ported in order for things to even boot correctly. Try to use stock gingerbread kernel on ICS or JB and see... So never underestimate the work that goes into initial work, and give credit where credit is due. I'm fairly certain that if I hadn't made my work available on github, you guys wouldn't have had even a fraction of all the various ROM's and kernel choices you have now. Just saying.

I got a new HDD and am installing my OS right now. I feel so naked after losing 1.5 TB of data and a 3TB HDD... I'm going to sync my repo again so I'll try to get back on track as soon as I can.
