Philz is flawless, so should be something to do with your phone. What error are you getting, Status 7 perhaps? What is your carrier? If you look at the assert lines in the "unified" release of LiquidSmooth, they no longer point to bootloaders, but to device versions. If your version isn't listed (d2spr, d2tmo, etc.) then your flash will fail as a precaution (that is what the asserts are designed for). For example, I am on Virgin Mobile, which is d2vmu, and is not listed as an "approved" carrier in these particular asserts. Removing them gets around that problem, but you have to be very sure what you are doing first.

+1--I also like the PA 0-Day GApps; here is another option from @BaNkS:

The BaNkS GApps are more streamlined in terms of file size.

Honestly its close to being great. Very quick and very smooth but I moved back to liquidsmooth jb cause data is still hit or miss and blue tooth doesn't auto connect on any kk build I have tried. I know the devs are working hard at fixing the issue. But besides that it was faster and smoother then any ROM out there in my opinion.

The first one I flashed was the 1/23 build and it seemed to run great. When I tried to update (flashed dirty) to the 1/28 build I got constant keyboard fc. So I went all the way back to stock tw where I received 8 MMS messages all at once, which is when I figured out that MMS wasn't working on the 1/23. I went ahead and tried the 1/28 build again, completely clean flash this time, with the same results (keyboard force closing constantly). I sideloaded Google keyboard and that cleared it up but I was still getting force closes with several of my user apps. I went back to my JB nandroid for the time being, but the KK builds look promising. Just a few more bugs to work out until it's my DD.
