Can we have old Dialer installed in SlimKat as in from SlimeBean? The dialer in SlimBean was much better and easier to use for people with small hands.

make sure your phone is rooted then use titanium backup to freeze mobile broadcast app instead of uninstalling it
works for me :)
no broadcasts whatsoever.

Switching back to SlimBean 4.3.build.2.2 - Official 1745. There are several issues with SlimKat 4.4.2.build.3 - 3087. I hope these will be fixed in future updates.

FIXES required
- Longpress back key does not function in many apps. In Total Commander, long pressing back key should exit app. NOT WORKING. In Opera, it should bring up menu with exit and other options. NOT WORKING. Please fix this issue immediately!! As there are many apps who assign 'longpress back key' to a specific function/menu. :crying:

- QuickPic: Deleting folders does not delete anything. Upon restart of app, the folders come back with all files. Have to delete them again.

- Whatsapp: Sometimes it would show a blank page on start. Have to clear Whatsapp from recents and then re-launch to make it work.

What I missed in SlimKat (that was available in SlimBean)
- Dialer in SlimBean was better
- WiFi signal icon was better (changing color on connection and showing arrows when data is being transferred)
- Sound was loud. Especially notification sounds, sms, calendar etc were atleast 30% louder in SlimBean.
- Notifications would show READ, REPLY buttons straightaway. In SlimKat, you have to swipe on notification to see them.
- "Clearall" in recents.
- Many customizations missing.

@HardCorePawn

Nice to see you got a N7000 to test your ROMs on. Could I maybe just add a suggestion. I have found out today that there is a MOD that lets you repartition your internal storage in order to increase the partition for the applications, as well as reduce sizes of partitions that don't need to be as large as with the stock ROM.

Please check out this thread for more information.

It would be perfect if you could talk to the MOD developer and try to find what the perfect partition sizes for SlimKat / Slim Bean ROMs would be, and thus everyone could use them.

Let me know what you think and thank your for supporting N7000 with your very good ROMs (so far only tried SB ;)).

Well.... look what arrived today... ;)
Finally got my hands on one... this should hopefully make the dev and testing a little easier :)
I won't guarantee a bug free ROM tho :p
nah...got a new toy. :D

I've been curious about this for a while; is there a reason you don't just compile with Linaro/Sabermod by default? Is it unstable or problematic?
afaik, official slimkernel is compiled with linaro toolchain. the rom is using google toolchain.
linaro could be good for some devices, but not for others since the optimization is done differently on various hardware architecture.

Nope... not going to happen... given that a large number of people have trouble reading basic instructions and/or finding simple menu options... I am certainly not going to recommend that people start repartitioning their devices with custom .PIT files!

I'm sure that the MOD dev has put a lot of effort into this... and users who want/need to be able to increase the /data partition above the 2gigs that Samsung deemed adequate will be able to find their way to that thread...

Besides, there is no one size fits all users... check out the devs i9100 thread... he has PIT files to repartition from 1Gig all the way up to 12! The best fit for you... is the one that allows you to install the apps you want/need... for most people, this is likely to remain as the default 2gigs...

I had the same problem with Quickpic
Possibly an app issue? Maybe they're missing, the now enforced in kk4.4, correct sdcard permissions? I see lots of "couldn't delete" errors in the logcat... you'll need to contact the app developers

Thank you very much for your reply. I understand that messing with partitions is a recipe for disaster :). However I was not talking about the size of the application partition, that part I can figure out myself. I was talking about a personalised request for the size of all the partitions.

Like for example:

@ShonkUK did:
Cache partition = 100M from 200M = -100M
Hidden partition = 1M from 512M = -511M
System partition = 1024M from 852M = +172M
that should recover 439M
recovered space added exactly to the data partition

I would then make an LTC image matching the parition layout that would be odin flashable and would move anything that is still in hidden to system
I am not sure if SlimROMs need all the space in the hidden partition or in the Cache partition.

However I understand that this can be a cause of some issues and I only wanted to point to a useful mod that I think all ROMs for our N7000 should have (optional of course). I think that 2GB is a bit low for the current days, and that 4GB would be more appropriate. However that is only my opinion.

Thank you once again for taking the time to reply.

Hangs on copying files from PC

I have issues with copying files from PC to my device when it's mounted as USB Mass storage device - after some period of time the device just hangs.
Any ideas?

If I mount device in MTT mode then SD-card is showed as empty (internal memory is ok, only additinal SD card is empty). I can actually copy files onto it but only in root folder.

Slim: 4.4.2.build.3-official-3087

Hello all you guys

#HardCorePawn
Could you please tell me how to wipe all the tiles and layout settings using a root explorer ?

Why do I ask this question : I've try to add tiles customs shortcuts that use secure settings or tasker. And the only thing it does, is... crashing com.android.systemui
Same result if I try to modify a custom shortcut.

So because of com.android.systemui fc's, no way to bring any logcat from my device.

Maybe there's something wrong in the /data partition while creating those shortcut. I try to minimize the inconvenient without having to reinstall the system.

Thanks for your help.

you can still get logcat through adb.
i assume you are using navbar (with custom icon)? if yes, then the fc probably was caused by navbar.
you can flash old build, turn off the navbar and then flash the latest build.
