OK, weirdness ... I switched to the KitKat theme, tweaked some of the colors, and my startup time problem went away.

I still have the problem that text entry fields in some places use white text no matter what I do with my Text Color settings, but I can sort of live with that for now, by using a mid-to-light grey popup background.

But whatever magic the KitKat theme worked, I'll take it! I can now reboot and have a fully started phone in under 2 minutes!

So I installed this and lost root.....any ideas? I updated SuperSU but rootchecker still says root access is not properly installed. I flashed UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip from TWRP but still no root.

EDIT: I tried everything I could think of, still no root. It seemed that it was hanging when requesting SU. I've never had that problem with any other ROM, if nothing else works, it always works installing with TWRP. I wiped it and reinstalled my backup.

It's happened to me, read the op very carefully and if that fails I believe I used SuperSU from the ota release of this rom to fix it.

It's great for that, but other than the data for my various apps (which I can backup and restore using TiBu), it's my home screen that's the most tedious to set up each time I do an install. So far, I haven't found anything to back that up :(

I don't think this is an app thing. There literally doesn't seem to be any way to change the color of the text in a text entry field, which is the color I'm talking about (see my comment in my original message about changing all of the Text colors).

If I were to rewrite the boldfaced part of the above quote to be accurate, it'd read as follows:

I would use a different Popup background color than white that works with light and dark Text colors, because you can control some Popup Text, but other Popup Text, such as that in text entry fields, will always be white.
Sadly, I like my Popups to have white backgrounds (I prefer a lighter-colored UI in general), which is how I've gotten into this mess in the first place. I've had to compromise by picking a background color that is a light grey, but not so light that the white text entry fields disappear. /sigh

I'm glad to see I did my research correctly :)

Sadly, so far, a reboot hasn't helped. When I have some time, I'm going to poke through my original log, and will also take your original advice of uninstalling apps one-by-one to see if it helps, falling back to a clean install.
can you post a screenshot?

I just dropped my NOTE 4 and picked this up for the first time in over a year. Updated Alliance ROM from a previous install of Alliance (build 26 I believe, with a full wipe in between). Lost root as well. Did you figure it out?

Which superSu versions are you using? I use 2.52 beta and it works just fine. You could try that.

Please help me

My note 2 suddenly stopped working a couple days back. I have never messed with rooting or custom roms.

I am currently at the download screen on my Note 2.

I have attached 2 photos. I have Odin V3.1.0 running and in green it says 0:COM23

The second photo is the files that I unzipped. None of the files to seem to be MD5 or any format that seem to produce any results in ODIN

MY QUESTION IS DO I NEED TO HAVE DIFFERENT ODIN. or WHAT DO I DO WITH THE BOXS BL, AP,CP,CSC.... THIS IS WHERE I AM LOST...

PLEASE HELP

Well if I am looking at the second picture correctly, you nothing with those files. You can't flash Alliance files in Odin. You need the stock files for your device to use in Odin.

yeah i believe you need the stock ROM to flash in ODIN..

Section 1b: How to return to stock 4.X Jelly Bean coming from any rom with Odin

Step 1: Download and install Odin- http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...2&d=1340993443

Step 2: Download one of these stock images and pit file to a windows based pc. If Odin does not recognize the file then extract it with a program such as 7zip.(Make sure to only use the version that is compatible with your bootloader...meaning if you upgrade to the latest firmware you can no longer revert back to older firmware versions)

VRUEMJ9 4.3- http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319197589(ONLY USE THIS IF YOU TOOK THE 4.3 OTA!! There currently is no bootloader unlock method for 4.3 which means you can no longer flash custom roms, recoveries, or kernels!!!)

Official VRAMC3 4.1.2 5/5/13- https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B46n...Rzg/edit?pli=1
This firmware image that will return your device to factory stock and locked conditions. Take note this is the latest firmware version that is currently can be be unlocked.

Official VRALJB 4.1.1 12/9/12- http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390214368362234374
This will wipe data and return your device to factory stock out of the box conditions. This file can only be used on devices that never took the VRALL4 or VRAMC3 OTA update. If this file is flashed on a updated device, Odin will fail @ sboot.bin.

THANKS! The first 2 links did not work but the last link is a md5 file and is currently dl'ing...

SHould I be worried about the note below it even though my phone is 100% wiped out??? "This file can only be used on devices that never took the VRALL4 or VRAMC3 OTA update. If this file is flashed on a updated device, Odin will fail @ sboot.bin"

ALSO, DO I USE THE MD5 File in the AP button in Odin or is it one of the others?

I typically leave those as is. i've only unchecked the reboot option one time when trying to test some odin flashing that I was doing at the time..

Battery charger message

I had trouble having my windows based machines seeing my phone. I finally upgraded Kies to re-install drivers. I can now see the phone but get a message on a mobile charger now saying the phone will not charge with an unauthorized charger. Trouble is it is a Samsung charging cable. Is there any way to fix this setting in this rom? Thanks.

hmmm.. i have not seen this error before... the only time i have is on Apple Devices because they are so picky about aftermarket chargers.. do you get the same result using other computers? what version of windows?

hopefully someone who still checks this forum will be able to help..
