The snapshot should be the same as the nightly from the night before it. If you do nightlies, there is no need to do the snapshot.
Not really, the Snapshot is its own build, usually comes out once a month, and *should* be smoother/more stable than the preceding nightlies. Here is some info on the most recent one from the CM blog:

Granted a fair amount of nightly changes get reversed later on for stability issues, but the info in that blog seems to spell out the latest nightly or milestone. I was going over the full changelog on my phone last night. Most, or all, of the changes have been in previous nightlies, including recent ones.

Do the milestones not carry over newly implemented major changes from the previous nightlies? I was told by others to not update to milestones if I've been doing nightlies, as there shouldn't be much of a difference. Perhaps I have been led astray. May I bother you for your recommendation on upgrading from nightlies to a milestone or a milestone to a nightly? (dirty flashing of course. the only way to go! :p)

Also, thank you everyone for all of your great feedback. I will use the latest nightly tomorrow (most likely, or tonight). If BT isn't working, I'll try 2/6 instead. Having said that, I do have one additional question. There shouldn't be a problem dirty flashing from a newer nightly to an older, right? If there is, I could always restore to 1/20 then upgrade.

Thanks again everyone. Your feedback is very much appreciated and so far extremely helpful. :good:

I don't know the exact details on the Snapshot builds regarding changes that happen every night being implemented, but I will say that I ran the previous M2 Snapshot for most of the month of January and it was outstanding! Very smooth, very stable. And yes, dirty flashing has never given me a problem!

Miracast Issues

Is anyone else unable to get miracast working? I've tried it on M2 and M3 and have had no luck. The device (NETGEAR PTV3000) doesn't show up as a display. My coworker using stock is able to see and cast his screen successfully.

I updated to the latest nightly at the time (02/13) along with the latest gapps (2-11, standard). Everything was very successful. BT/WiFi auto-connect problems are all fixed. The battery life seems to be a tad less than before, but that might have just been a weird scenario. I'll continue to keep an eye on battery life.

In terms of the camera. I tried taking a few pictures last night and again just now. The camera becomes unresponsive after taking/saving the first picture. Quitting the camera app and restarting it yields a communication error with the camera. I restarted and checked out the front camera. It worked and didn't freeze after the first picture. I then switched to the back camera and I can now take more than one picture with it (it did not freeze/crash). So if you are having troubles with the back camera, switch to the front first, then back to the back.

or just go to this guide I made to fix the camera and call it a solid working camera with no crashes or other work around/reboots needed:

Are these changes able to eventually merge into the rom or do you think I will always need this?
really up to the devs on that, I keep trying the camera in the nightly updates, they fail, I just delete the camera and gallery apk's, reinstall that gallery fix of mine and wait till next time lol

I clean flashed 2/10 (SNAPSHOT-M3) and the camera was completely borked, would have to reboot every few pictures.
I just dirty flashed 2/17 (NIGHTLY) over it, and everything I've thrown at the camera has kept itself standing. No more issues, for me at least.

EDIT: FFC seems to be coming together as well, slowly but surely.

Same Issue Over and Over again

I, too, have been experiencing the same camera issues as well...but my only comment I would have is if it is truly an "m" snapshot, I would imagine it be a good idea for everything to work properly...I mean everything. I am a bit bothered by the camera issue since I went to Vegas this past weekend and had nothing but issues when going from video to snapshot to panorama and having to reboot each time. It was quite embarrassing, to say the least, when I tell my friends I have a bada$$ phone but the software was clunky. In the end, I still like CM11, but it needs to be more reliable in situations like I had this past weekend. I know the 'M" it is still a "better" build than the "nightlies" in theory, but if the camera was working fine before, why mess with it...just my opinion. Because of the headaches I had with the Snapshot this past weekend and have never experienced camera issues like this in the past, please accept my apologies for venting my irritation over this.

On a side note, the latest build is riddled with camera issues, please fix guys. Without offending many people that work really hard on this OS, but if there has been a ton of money dumped into this project, my expectation is that it works flawlessly.

The problem I have been having in the past build since 2/6 is this, see image below, when I reboot...not only does it take forever to get past the spinning CM logo, I get this warning window. Any thoughts???

Thanks for reading my frustrated post

Screenshot of Camera Issues

When messing around with the camera trying to figure out a pattern of why it goes down, I figured I would share a couple of Screenshot of the camera issues I am experiencing as well. Maybe others are seeing this also. One is a shot of a snapshot and the other is a video. Notice the weird vertical lines in both shots?

Clean Install Fixed Issues

Well, with so many headaches out there on the camera, I resorted to doing a CLEAN install of 2/10 and everything seems to be working fine. I haven't really tested out the camera yet as I am in the process of updating everything. If I run into any issues, I will resort to the link provided for fixing the camera and storage card issue.

One thing popped up after installing 2/10...."Trebuchet has stopped working" popped up, but I cannot find out why it is doing that. I don't like Trebuchet anyway. I cannot adjust the rows and columns....I had to use Gravity-box for that which seems stupid because Trebuchet should have that option. I liked Launcher 3; did what I needed it to do without installing another app. I wish there were a way in CM11 to change the lock-screen wallpaper differently from the home wallpaper without the need for Gravity-box. If anyone knows how to do this, I'd like to hear.

If there are any other issues, I'll report them. ;)

Clean Install error flag

On a clean install does anyone get a phone failed error. Essentially the phone doesn't see the Sprint network at all and I cannot get passed the Error flag at all. The only way around this to boot into touchwiz, run the phone activation. Once I do that then I can boot into recovery to install clean rom. I went as far as unrooting but the problem persist.
