Already tried it...would love it to work on 2/10!!

Believe it or not, I tried several times to get your "fix" to work, but it just did not work. There is no "uninstall" feature for the camera anywhere that I can see., even when I go to the properties function of the file in system/apps. The only way to "get rid of it" is to delete the apk in the apps folder of the system directory. I have tried both ways, but cannot get it to work. Furthermore, your instructions on copying and pasting the download file to your system/apps directory and they installing in from there resulted in "app not installed" issue each time.

Here's what I did, correct me if I missed something.
Since there is no way to uninstall the Camera App, I disabled it.
Made a B/U copy of the Camera APK
Deleted the APK
Copied and pasted the new file to my root system folder using both ES File (with root permission) and Root explorer
Changed permissions
Rebooted
Prompted a Android is updating window
Clicked on Camera
"Camera Stopped working" window popped up

I imagine the issues is from me not being able to uninstall the original apk and furthermore not being able to install your file.

Suggestions??? It may work for some, but not all apparently. Besides, when any new updates surface from the CM team, those would get over written anyway, right?? I am on a nightly and it is senseless, IMHO, to install your "way" only to have it undone when I update a preferred nightly...Agree? Disagree??

Since there is no uninstall feature for Camera2.apk, that is the file in system/apps even when I touch it or touch and hold the file. Where is it that you get the uninstall feature. It is not a "camera.apk" it is a camera2.apk file.

Also, there is no Google Camera.apk, nor a Google gallery.apk.

I am running CM11 2/10. If this will truly work, then I will stay on the 2/10 until there is a bonafide answer from CM on the actual fix. I just wished they didn't screw with it in the first place. I will take any suggestions?

you can use the free version just fine, titanium backup brotha!! lol that'll uninstall any system apk, reinstall or even just freeze it, back it up, turn user apps into system apps and vice versa...every rooted user should have that app or 1 that's equivalent to it. and well worth the $7 for the pro version by the way ;)

Tried Root Browser..Didn't work.

Wanted to let you know that I tried using root browser lite and still had the "app not installed" (pre-reboot) and "camera stopped working" (post-reboot) windows pop up. If you are doing anything differently than I what am doing, let me know. I was actually able to uninstall the original camera2.apk app and install the new file, but it did not work. (I did make backups BTW)

HOLY COW!!!!! YOUR ARE AMAZING!!!! IT FRIGGIN' WORKED!!!!
Sorry to keep posting, but I am happy to say that this method really worked. The step by step worked, "kind-of", but my issue was a little different. The first method did not work at all. I was able to uninstall the camera2.apk file and install the new file, but after rebooting, I got the "doesn't work" windows...so, I then started from scratch this time...replaced the original file, installed and rebooted putting me at "stock" CM11 2/10 M3.

I, then, uninstalled the gallery.apk file, copied over and installed the new file, then uninstalled the camera2.apk file and installed the new file, set permissions, rebooted, tested the camera in all areas and, YEP, everything checked out and works like a charm. Even the FFC lag has completely disappeared.

Everyone, if I were you, I would try the second method first because the first method only created frustration...just some advice.

THANKS A MILLION FOR THE FIX!!! I will stay on 2/10 for a while now. Everything seems to be perfect. Now, maybe the CM Team can take a peek at the fix and apply it to the next monthly.

fixed it...just please guys, you must use titanium backup though for the camera only process...that's the only way i got it to install, no other methods will work for that system app installation unfortunately but it's good now and fully working:good:

installed the cm11 2-21 nightly. broken LTE, broken Camera (not going to bother with camera fix), now even broken 3G. back to 10.2 for me
I fixed all of those errors myself...the camera and broken lte connections, just saying...yes I made a thread too how to fix the broken lte problems

Actually, while I was on 2/17 before the changes, I didn't have any issues. Everything was as smooth as CM had to offer. :)
