Bit worried to upgrade to the latest as some people reported random reboots... or not being able to charge battery when the phone is off...
I had to check the charging as I never turn off the phone. Nope, it doesn't seem to be charging when off.

If it's off and you connect the charger, it turns on. If you connect the charger when the phone is on then you turn it off, it doesn't seem to be charging as the charging animation doesn't appear neither the LED lits.

Putting it to airplane mode solves the problem if you don't want to be online.

No reboots for me, but I have to admit I really use the phone to what a phone is for. Talking, sending text, Viber, Messenger, FB and some SW Collection.. so no nonstop playing for me.

Some more battery info with my overclocked settings. Yesterday I had 20 hrs and a bit on the battery, but I talked for a bit more than 3hrs, used the GPS for 4hrs (not a navigator program, but the GPS was turned on)... so SlimKat is fine on the battery.

A couple of things I forgot:
GPS... it needs about 4-5 minutes to fix the position, but it's 2/3 of the time for me compared to the JB.

TJKV, just found a bug. I have a SIM code and if I don't put the SIM pin in as it appears on the screen and it goes off... it never comes back. So need to take the battery out and reboot.

Yes, you must be understanding something falsely.

In the post above your post there is a link to TJKV's SlimKat folder... in there you find: minimal_Slim_AIO_gapps.4.4.2.build.3.x.zip

This GAPPS work flawlessly.
I am trying to install GAPPs on latest build but they fail to install. I have used the oneyouhave mentioned. Whats wrong.

If anyone is wondering what this ROM can do, here you go (mum's usage):
Phone feels absolutely smooth with nearly 4 days uptime, 2 days since unplugged, 162mb unused ram.
Granted she doesn't use it as much as most people here, no mobile data etc but still makes one wonder...

This is an older build, updating it soon (Slim will release next stable soon)

A word on what "Stable" means...in the case of this ROM stable means the features added by Slim is stable, not necessarily the whole ROM by itself. For that, Quarx needs to label his device tree as stable too. Now don't go asking him when that will happen, honestly I'd prefer it remain a work in progress for as long as possible, like the last four years :)

updated from 1.4 to 3.8..

updated from 1.4 to 3.8 (clean install with safewipe).. everything went fine...
so far no problems... will report if i run into any problems...

bp_ptc (soft sim unlock) should be included by default in my opinion

Thank You!!!

---
update #1:
- after 7 hours on 3.8, battery charge indicator started playing up. no reading on the status bar at the top, and 100% charge in battery stats. , rebooting gave me only black screen, had to take out battery. When it started up battery stats started showing correct? value of 71%

Hi, same happens to my. Yesterday my defy work 3hs without changing its battery status, all time show 100%. After reboot several times suddenly defy show a battery status down.
That don't worries my, I sure that slim team and TJKV will fix this.
this ROM is anyway the best option to my defy.

You did everything just as TJKV wrote in the first post?

- Install TWRP 2.6.3.0
- Wipe cache, dalvik, data and SYSTEM (you have to go to Advanced in the Wipe menu to be able to wipe the system)
- install ROM
- install GAPPS
- Reboot

This must work... :good:

Build 3.85 uploaded. Short description: InCallUI patches to reduce screen turn on time on incoming call, thanks to @htto. Quarx might have fixed the battery problem too, test it out.

The gapps I have provided works fine, I have tested everything this build. This is the first of my builds with the new Slim Recents that I have tested myself, have to say it is much faster than AOSP recents. Lucky you guys :)

Just noticed this - selecting the low memory option vastly improved performance, in contrast to CM11 and Omni.

Low memory option comes on by default on Build 3.85, not sure why Aero Control says it is off though. I asume that is where you turned it on?

Mhh I thought I pulled your 3.85 build. But I guess build before committing :)
I will have a look at that build/res thingy, already got the 15GB *sigh* checkout..

And as I've not diffed between SK and CM that much, yet, anything important I have to look out for? But probably it will run cool hat... err kat :cowboy:
Let's discuss here :p

Okay if you want to build it yourself let me just update the local manifest. Nothing other than that to keep in mind afaik, just the usual "source build/e* && lunch && make bacon" after that.

And yes I didn't commit because no one had commented on CM11 how/if it works :p But it worked well so I uploaded the build. So local changes I have made are just your second update and the settings repo commenting.

I first turned it off using the build.prop entry and then enabled it using aero control. I found that the snappiness of the ROM went away when I disabled it (or it is just me?).
I'm not sure if quarx fixed the battery thing yet, on every reboot my phone shows a different battery percentage.
Other than that, everything's running nicely, no bugs I could notice other than the already known ones.

Installed SlimKat on Saturday... and having slept on the phone (for the 1000th time) on Monday evening my "already cracked for a year screen" has a big piece fallen out. Factory screens are so expensive here, that it just doesn't worth buying one...
Get one off ebay, they're about 13€ last time i bought one, about two weeks ago.. ;)

On the latest build, status bar is black on the home screen (nova with translucent status bar activated).
Fixes?

Installed 3.85 today, but had to get back to 3.8 because battery percentage was shown permanently as 100%. Wiping battery stats, cache and dalvik without success. In TWRP it was shown correcty. Now back to 3.8 and percentage is ok. Just wanted to tell in case of nit being the only guy with this problem.

In device/moto/mb526/slim.mk the $(call inherit-product, $(SRC_TARGET_DIR)/product/full_base_telephony.mk) results in generation of the full blown config. If I include that in Quarx' cm.mk, it shows the same problem. So I commented it out and test a build.

Yes, that was it. along the way full_base.mk gets called from the build repo. Will remove that now. Thanks :p

I'm not sure if you talk about notification panel but you can try setting / interface / notification panel / additional options / background style

Eheh no problem. My zip is around 121MB :D Though it took me quite some time to figure that out. Plus the tweaks needed to get the build to build under openjdk7. Anyway, now it's installed... interesting. Bit lower RAM usage than with Quarx' CM11. Some packages seem to be older, as the system didn't want to downgrade the sqlite databases. Yahyah should've wiped /data, though me is lazy :D

Still DashClock won't work for me, and you'll probably hit that as well, since the hdpi drawables aren't all there:

Code:
03-24 22:05:14.601 E/AndroidRuntime( 2798): Caused by: android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: Resource ID #0x7f020049
that resource is: public static final int white_item_pressed=0x7f020049;
Code:
  >> for x in drawable*dpi ; do echo -n "$x: "; ls -1 $x/ | wc -l ; done
drawable-hdpi: 38
drawable-holodark-hdpi: 3
drawable-holodark-mdpi: 3
drawable-holodark-xhdpi: 4
drawable-holodark-xxhdpi: 4
drawable-mdpi: 38
drawable-nodpi: 33
drawable-xhdpi: 50
drawable-xxhdpi: 22
drawable-xxxhdpi: 1

  >> ls -l drawable*/white_item_pressed*
-rw-r--r-- 1 177 Mar 23 11:32 drawable-xhdpi/white_item_pressed.9.png
Seems like only xhdpi is complete?

And the undobar pngs seem only to be available for xhdpi and xxhdpi drawables. That will probably also fail

EDIT:
Adding
LOCAL_AAPT_INCLUDE_ALL_RESOURCES := true
to
packages/apps/DashClock/Android.mk
does workaround the issue for now.
