Arrggghh. Just got the rom installed and now a new one. My typical dumb luck. Anyway I have the 01/05/2014 gapps installed. Seems to be working ok except lately I keep getting the contacts failing to sync. tryed clearing the data for contact storage, but it seems to be a problem in the future.
Anyway, what is the difference with the new Gapps you put up? Do I just install the gapps you put together over top of my existing gapps in recovery?
LOL, my bad. I should have said something when you said downloading. You can just dirty flash the ROM as I didn't change anything that would matter. Hmmm...I'm not sure if you can flash gapps over another as I've never tried. They are just updated PA Gapps but the contacts have been an issue for me on my Note 2 as well so I think that's just something with google itself. You could always wipe both caches and system (leaving data) and then flash updated version and new gapps without losing any of your info

I'll leave my Gapps alone for the time being. It seemed most of all the gapps auto-updated already.
I'll dirty flash the new rom. Seems like there are tons of posts all over the place on contact issues.
The only thing I would suggest is setting the APN to ATT wap.cingular if possible. I know now to look, but others may not.

I used the following post to create a clean, working APN for my I777 and it works like a champ.

New build up. Switched download repository. Updated OP and I also changed the gapps link to an updated version that should work for this device. I'll finish adding linaro to the kernel before the next build just haven't had time to finish editing some things I wanted to test quite yet. Flash and report any issues. Thanks
Very interested to try out the linaro version of your kernel. Cm has not impressed me with their kernel for... Well, ever. Right now I'm running @cyril279's SlimSaber and the kernel has been amazing. In fact, it's the first stock kk kernel I've used over renderbroken. There's been some major optimizations since 3/22.

but i digress... Looking forward to trying it out. Can't thank you enough for keeping our old dinosaurs alive.

See I don't personally use the phone so I don't notice the kernel but I do use the stock cm kernel in my phone which is extremely similar and it's solid. The linaro will be fairly basic and just implemented but testing it now on my note and slightly snappier but it needs work. I can however probably just port the slim kernel and make you a zip

Didn't even think about that... I wonder if it will work on cm. If you make it, I'll try it and report back

i have tried slim kernel with cm but always had a phone app stopped etc
That's funny, working on that issue at this exact moment

Edit: Tried several workarounds but no go. I technically COULD get it working but for the time it would take me I might as well just build my own without extra tweaks as that's what's the most time consuming anyway

LOL great :D I thought of Cyril kernel as it's really fast and I had that issue which stopped me. I was thinking maybe replacing the phone app itself would do the trick but I really haven't tried that yet. But at least am glad things are getting forward around here :)

My phone drained 40% overnight. Although there is no way to turn off GPS from the pulldown menu, only on or battery save mode, and it was in battery save mode. Also I keep Bluetooth on and when in sleep, wireless should shut off. Maybe my battery is dying as it is almost 3 years old. I ordered a new battery.

From the pull down menu press and hold gps icon and turn off high accuracy to be able to change between device only and completely off. I'm going with your battery because that's extreme. Never had drain like that here

Ya I know you can just go into settings or press and hold to completely turn GPS off. I was used to just toggling the icon though from the pull down menu to turn it off. I never saw "battery saver mode" for GPS before.
I agree that the CM Kernel is a little slow.

Damn I need a new phone and I refuse to buy any ATT bootloader locked phone that can't be unlocked. And I don''t want to spend $700 on a phone. I paid $50 for my GS2 and it has lasted me almost 3 years now.

Unless you're worried about warranty that doesn't matter much actually as long as us only semi locked as I tripped Knox on my GN2 long ago. It is total crap tho to have to pay for a locked device. Samsung will start to suffer and will eventually have to start unlocks or it will kill their business as that is basically the main reason the dev community uses them and without that option they become replaceable

I agree. LG G3 supposedly outsold the GS5 by a mile. Same old Samsung design, bla.

Hopefully you can get that new linaro kernel in this rom.

I used ggapps in op, I think mini modular, but have no room left on internal storage. Out of 1.8 gig I only have 200 meg left. Any suggestions? I like ROM so far other then this. Thanks

Hmm..did you format system when you wiped? @jackal2001 just installed fresh and didn't say anything about this problem. IF so let me know and I'll change the link back to my original gapps package

System is showing at 1.97Gb for me. After installing the ROM and the PA Gapps Package I have 1.40GB free. Only using about 600MB for the system partition.
