there are 2 links in op, goo.im and dev-host and both are not working? it can't be...

Okay so the reason I asked this question was I was trying to change dpi via the advanced slim setting, and kept receiving the message that root access was denied - with no prompt about whether to enable it. And I triple-checked that root access was enabled in dev options.

This was solved once I tried an app that needed root (Titanium) and got the prompt as expected, from then on root access for advanced settings works fine. Root is granted to the settings with no prompt however, is that how it's supposed to be?
if you already enable root, did you update root or install other root? root is working fine.

From Slimrom Website:
Hey guys, for some weeks now no official release.....as you can imagine there are several reasons for it. First awesome new shiny KitKat AOSP version arrived where we have a lot lot work to do on. As well we worked a lot to get rid of the last mainly device specific bugs on the final 4.3.1 and decided today to publish the last stable 4.3.1 version to the public. The devices got a lot upstream as well we fixed some security issues. A small and dirty Changelog for the main fixes see below. Gapps please use still the 2.0 gapps. Installinstructions as usual see below.

For SlimKat we will start rolling out for a bunch of devices next week with the usual weeklies cycle.

Have fun thanks for the support and patience and enjoy when you are still on SlimBean and not on the already very stable SlimKat ;)
Would a final 4.3.1 SilmSaber release make sense?

there is no final release...:D
the final official build 4.3 only contains rotation reboot fix which is already there in our build since last month or october.

then you are doing wrong...probably you are using a task killer app that kills the launcher.
some launchers have settings to keep the launcher in memory. you can enable that setting to keep the launcher always in memory.
recommended kernel? stay on stock kernel (the original kernel in the rom). :D
honestly, imo there is no really an outstanding kernel that is outperformed the cm kernel which could bring your n7000 into a different level.
i can say like this because in i9100 community, there is one kernel that you can see a really big performance gap with the cm kernel. you won't even believe that an old device can perform in a such a level.

I just set the governor only. no task manager application. hehe .. Any recommendation govenor settings? because I only 120MB of free ram. apps that I installed social networking applications only. if I open instagram / skectbook pro long-term louncher then automatically restart. Im use louncher kitkat prime. no memory keep setting like nova louncher :D

thanks for respons

you can use pegasusq governor if you don't satisfy with ondemand governor. probably a launcher bug that takes so much ram. i have also many social networking apps installed and still have 300-350mb free ram.

it is a custom kernel for galaxy s2, not for galaxy note. don't even try to flash on galaxy note. :)

Dorimanx kernel looks pretty stunning. I wonder why our Notes can't have such amazing kernel too? I mean 5 GPU steps (up to 520mhz), 16 CPU steps and loads of other stuff that makes our N7000's look weak even tho we share almoast identical hardware components.
it is stunning. :D
yeah we share the same kernel tree.

Then how difficult it could be to port this kernel for N7000? I don't know much about this stuff... actually I know nothing (Jon Snow xD).
I'm going to attempt it at some point if no one else does. I have some actual coding experience but not in Java/C/++ so I don't know how difficult I'm gonna find it.

The sooner, the better :D I bet Dorimanx and maybe others experienced devs would help you :) For me, this task is simply impossibru because of absolutely no coding experience.
