I flashed the official SlimKat rom in the end and FC is gone (with GPS, maps, etc working of course)...

The kernel that's in the ROM performs really well and the stock settings give great battery life.Which kernel should is use for best performance with this rom?

The Location issue that crashed Google Services is now fixed, awesome!!!

something is wrong with gapps. perhaps your gapps doesn't have backup script. that's why you lost gapps.Thanks so much ! It was extremely waited and appreciated !
I downloaded the file from your link and installed manually via recovery. It formatted my system and I had to manually flash gapps as well.
Everything works perfectly but I had some problem with Google play services that resulted not installed. I ended up downloading the apk from gappsandroid.blogspot.com/2015/08/google-play-services-apk-android.html?m=1 and installing it manually.
Now everything works with the exception of hangout that doesn't want to get installed... Anyone with the same problem ?
