Works great, only the waking up

I hope the SlimSaber team decides to port over the SlimPie features....I miss them

Everything else is working pretty great. Audio seems to have improved since the slimsaber JB version.

I've switched to ART ahead of time run-time but I can't really tell if its doing anything performance wise on this ROM... Battery life seems to be better on ART but I haven't been running this ROM long enough to really know if it is...anyway merry Christmas to all

Yeah, that is not going to happen. Since slimsaber builds from the slimkat source, which is recoding its features and gradually adding the old features back. But since this is the development thread, you, of course, already knew this...

I would like to mention I have succesfully updated from 22 to 23 with SlimOTA. So the client side of things work properly.

But I also have a bug, waking up the device from sleep is not a consistent experience. There are three different situations, either everything works properly, or you get the device worken up: and your touches are registered by the touch screen (I have aet it to register my touches on the touchscreen and this is properly shown by the white cirkel), but the device the does'nt respond to my input. The third situation, the device doesn't wake the menu and back buttons do wake up and the screen does power on, but it is completely black (in the dark you can see it has powered on). Does anyone have tje same experience?

I am using dalvik and did a clean install for the 22 install and a dirty install from 22 to 23.

Trying to replace the problem while still getting a proper logcat is difficult is a bit difficult and I have no idea where the problem possibly could be (I am simply a user). So the logcat(which was too big to upload to xda) is in this link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cvia0wugnpcpr41/2013-12-24-17-15-05WAKINGPROBLEM.txt

you are probably have enabled lockscreen widget and they are pilling up. build 23 addressed this issue. you better do a full wipe.
you can easily create logcat using settings - slimcenter - bugreport and attach the zip file here.

Anyone try ART yet on the 23rd Dec release? Is it stable?
I just posted today that I am using ART but I'll post it again: ART works, its totally stable and compatible with all my apps tho u should know I run mostly barebones I have less than 150 apps for Android to ART optimize on first boot including system apps etc...I really don't have much besides GApps

I thought, at least at first that ART ran slower in launching apps but ART is supposed to do the exact opposite so I could be wrong or there is a problem so I'm waiting for others to post their opinions ART before I decide what run time to use...battery life on ART seems better for me but that may be related to other KitKat changes as I switched from slimsaber JB to slimkat

Kudos

I guess people are understandably worried or have already been burned on other 4.4 ROMs. I think I'll just go ahead and give it a try and go back to Dalvik if it sucks too badly.

KitKat is good I think well I don't like this location thing where is my GPS toggle so I can get location data wo having to turn on gps!

Anyhow its just that these Samsung devices blow, well at least the n7000 has defects and we don't have drivers

Due to the emmc brick bug we can't use the TRIM features of KitKat right? maybe can't get benefits of ART either, plus ART is still experimental even at Google right?

Cuz Im not seeing any performance enhancement with ART in fact hangouts got so slow I switched to back to stock messaging app for SMS but still sticking with ART until more people chim in but for now benchmarks (not that they mean anything) were higher for me on slimsaber jb than they are on beta kitkat builds like this one

If omni dropped ART support then it probably sucks so I'll probably switch back to davlik by doing a full wife when the next version of slimkat comes out

I think ART definitely have inproved some app's performance. You can see a huge different when launching the Goal.com app using davilk and ART.

I've had ART enabled less than a day now, but the performance increase is minimal, if not completely non-existent.
Some apps take a noticeable longer time to start up, especially Youtube and Mybackup Pro (and maybe others as I have not had a good amount of time to check).
The battery drain doesn't seem to be much different from Dalvik, this was the biggest disappointment for me, I thought we could finally get at least a few more hours out of a charge.
