Try searching for "Jakes APN fix" here or in CM11 forums. I just tried but kind of tough on this tablet. Basically download "APN backup and restore" app from the store in both stock ROM and a link at. Boot into stock ROM. Run APN backup app and backup apns from there. Boot into Slimkat ROM. Use TI backup to convert APN backup & restore app to system app. It will be ap option when in TI backup and you click on the app and swipe over a page for all app options. Once its a system app use a root explorer app such as ES file explorer and cut the APN backup and restore APK from /SYS/APP and paste to /SYS/PRIV-APP folder. Open the APN app, disable ics check, and restore apns that you backed up from stock into Slimkat. You should see it writing all the apns.

I'm writing all this from memory so try to find the original post explaining it but I think I got most of it. You may have to do a restart after pasting the APK into the new folder and then again when the whole process is done. Hope this helps.

Also, did you just try doing *228 to program and update roaming?? That might help too before you try all this.

Hmm... You didn't back up the stock slot before deleting it?? Always back that up.. ESPECIALLY if putting custom ROMs on there...

Try searching for an app called "offline SIM database" I think that "might" help and be able to add the correct APN. Other than that the only solution I can think of would be to use Matt's utility to go back to stock, get the APNs, re root, install SS, back up stock ROM, then install Slimkat and do the APN fix. Unless someone else has a different solution or a stock backup you could flash.

Something has to be going on there... Is your screen on full bright and always on for that entire hour and a half? Do you have the RAZR or RAZR MAXX? Did you just install it and not do a full charge cycle on it and just needs a couple days to settle in?

I have been using SK 5.2 for a couple weeks now and usually get around at least 20 hours on average. I have noticed however that when using my phone and the screen is on that it does get quite warm, almost hot. I am not sure if it is this particular insurance replacement phone that I got or the SK 5.2 doing it. I don't remember my previous MAXX getting that warm but I was never able to run this version of slimkat on it before it broke. Is anyone else noticing anything like that?

EDIT: I just checked mine and I'm at 10 hours with 63% left. 50% of usage is voice calls, 12% screen, and 11% is android OS. Click on the graph and see what your wake usage is and if your GPS sensor is stuck on. Sometimes a rogue app can freeze your GPS on or have a wake lock issue sending the android OS usage number way too high. Sometimes a simple reboot can fix this. Or check the apps permissions and disable that apps wake lock permission.

I'm having an issue where occasionally when I put my MAXX into the Moto car dock with the screen off it doesn't turn the screen on. When the power button is pressed the hardware buttons light up but the screen remains off, the hardware lights time out, and I'm left with a black screen. After a couple tries the screen will come on with a crash message about com.android.systemui

It happened on 4.4 and continued on 5.8. I can't find that application to check on it. Clearing dalvik and cache does nothing.

Maybe you're just in a bad coverage area and you need to switch to 2G.

SlimKat Wallpaper

I just installed SlimKat 5.8 and so far so good. In the initial set up I selected the option to back up and restore apps from google which I think I have done in the past. Only thing is that instead of restoring what I had on my phone before it went and restored all the apps from my tablet which was a little annoying, but I keep my tablet pretty clean so I didn't get too much stuff I didn't want. Then after playing with settings for an hour or two the wallpaper changed to match my tablet. I'd like to set it back to the default SlimKat wallpaper, but don't know where in the filesystem to find it. I know it has to be there somewhere, but I just don't know where to start looking. Anyone have any idea where to find it and what the filename is?

I could just reflash and turn off backup/restore, but am hoping that there's an easier way.

Thanks in advance,

- Astrobrewer

UPDATE: Found it. It's inside the framework-res.apk file in the system/framework directory. I should have looked a little longer before posting (or stopped looking after posting). Thanks anyway.

Loaded 5.8. The preferred network is stuck on GSM and it wont let me change to LTE without force closing. Any solution for this, thanks.
