About Carbon

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.

Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub. and on our Gerrit CarbonDev Gerrit.

We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.

Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.

While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

Support

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:

1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.

2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ

3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.

4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Announcement

Starting from now, I'm gonna be building ROMs (Unofficially supported) using a build server,
which means I'm gonna be able to provide you updates more frequently and uninterruptedly :p

But in order to afford for the server's renting cost, I need your help with that,
I'll be providing this announcement in all ROMs' threads that were made using the server,
and I'll be adding a directly donation link to the server here and in my signature,
hoping that you guys would donate so that working on this server will continue

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=GR5YFRU7FCVT6

Here is the server's website: GothDroid.com
and here is our G+ page: GothDroid - Team for Xperia

And thanks to @necrotic-nosphe for his great work on maintaining the server
and to @Alx31TLse for his great help and for introducing me to the server :)

ROM's I'm planing on Building through the server for now are: Omni, Carbon, Dirty Unicorns, DarkCyanogenMod

Awesome! Will check it out :)

Anyway, do you suggest to first make a backup for the Sony partition (right now don't know how it's called) with this methode? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2634196

Also, yes I'm still interested in helping to build daily builds, the only thing is that I have no idea how to start, newer compiled any ROM before and never had anything to do with developing but at some point everything is for the first time, right ;P

I suggest to make a backup if you care about your device's warranty, because without it you'll lose it,
and BTW this : [GUIDE] Back up DRM Keys & unlock/relock Bootloader (Noob proof) is more user friendly and will update your firmware to 4.4 rather than 4.3 in the link you mentioned,
and as mentioned in OP you need to have a Sony 4.4 or CM11 (or based on them) before flashing it.

I'll send you a pm soon to discuss how we can work together ;)

Oh, I saw many unofficial (not made by who post) ROMs in many forums in original development!!
so I thought every compiled from source ROM should be here.

And BTW, thanks a lot for your sources, they helped me a lot in building this:fingers-crossed:

no prob ;)

yeah me too...at beginning all my threads were in OD and have been moved by a mod. i was thinking all stock/stock based were android dev and cm/cm based OD but not at all, OD is a rom totally created and unmodified by someone and with unique features ...or kernel.

Even : krabappel2548 was official and rom was in android dev and not OD

Ask toledo_jab

no prob bro anytime....
Actually u build this when?
cuz since 2 weeks impossible for me to build for Z1....missing caf files :(

Tapatalked from my PolluxWindy
When??!!
I compiled it just today....

Oh the caf files you say, I didn't know that they may cause a compiling error, but out of coincidence (I think),
I actually toke the repositories from my previous compiled ROM (Resurrection Remix),
so the caf repositories were already in its /.repo/local_manifests/roomservice.xml , which are these two lines:
Code:
  <project name="CyanogenMod/android_hardware_qcom_display-caf-new" path="hardware/qcom/display-caf-new" remote="gh" revision="cm-11.0" />
  <project name="CyanogenMod/android_hardware_qcom_media-caf-new" path="hardware/qcom/media-caf-new" remote="gh" revision="cm-11.0" />
so I copied them along with the other repositories as well,
and this was fortunately the first ROM that got compiled without any errors in the first time :D

Thanks mate. This is my favourite ROM as I consider it to have the best PIE implementation. Although the Liquid Smooth is quite good on Z1c.
I will try it as soon as possible.

Is NFC not working(when I scan my card a sound pops out but nothing happens afterwards) a bug under cm11? Because mine isn't working in carbon.

And

Why sometimes when I switch apps I see the Sony logo popping out?

Things not working:

1. CRT Animation
2. NFC
3. settings under "Performance" not sticking after boot

Also could I request that the audio recording by the recording shortcut from the notification area be saved to Internal Storage instead of from root? I have to copy from root to internal storage before I can play them. Not really a bug but a mild inconvenience.

thanks for your reports, NFC is working on CM11.0 (I guess),
all bugs were listed in OP, and will try to fix what I can fix in next build.
