Fantastic 20140124 update...!!

Now its time for my review ;)

Just updated to new version of rom 20140124. So far so good. Battery backup is awesome. Also it depend on our use.

Regarding boot loop or restart issue I didn't find any issue. Everything is working fine here. :)

For me 2g/3g switching problem is there after reboot like people already mentioned in their post. But this one is not big problem.

I found a little difficulty in installing Apex launcher as soon as I changed runtime dalvik to ART. I found a tricky solution for it. We need to install xposed installer and after that Apex launcher gets installed work properly. May be a launcher problem.

I am not sure but I think our phone can run even more smoothly if we can have more updated and latest GPU drivers especially compatible with kitkat. I can notice a little lag issue while scrolling and lag in notification panel. I think this one dhiru can explain in a better way.

Recovery is also working fine.

I found that the default brightness is little bit higher. Hope to see this to get reduced a little bit more.

Overall this one is great update. Go for it guys...!! :D

BUG: my phone goes low on battery, then shut down. So I plugged in it my AC charger. Then I tried to turn on but I'm stucked on a black screen, after 3 white blink screen.
Suggestion? Since now I tried to:

1) remove battery, then turn on. Nothing
2) remove battery, press and hold power (without battery) then turn on. Nothing
3) charge with usb pc then turn on. Nothing
4) button combination for recovery mode and download mode doesnt work

Guys, serious. DONT LET THE PHONE TURN OFF BY ITSELF, buggy rom...need more test.

Thanks for help

loSconosciuto said "The 2G issue is more a workaround not to brake things. I've never tried to anything about it, but those who worked on RILJ knew what they were doing. I find interesting that my device usally uses 3G only mode, which is what I was using on stock. I wonder if stock ROMs save the preferred mode somewhere (I'm thinking about the param partition, no accessible with the 3.0 kernel or any 2.6.35 kernel using MTD, unless the right modules are inserted). I would expected 2G/3G to be the default mode, 3G only is a weird one."

Have the same problem. Managed to enter in Dowload Mode with combination of keys. Keep on trying! Or maybe you should try to get into recovery with adb commands.

Umm.., how do you know what provider I'm using?
Well, I have tab 2 7.0, running cm 11, no problem there.
But, I'll try using another provider as u suggest. :)

Is this happen at your galaxy SL too?

Anyone else have this kind of problem I wonder?

@ dhiru, any suggestions?
@ dedante, I change my provider to simpati(TELKOMSEL) in this phone and it works!!!

Anyway, below are the screenshot that prove my provider's simcard doesn't have this problem on other device I'm currently running (my tab 2 7.0) CM 11 20140122 from CodyF86. Thanks.

right now, I'm able to enter in download mode! and probably, I'll able to run adb command for recovery....and then? What can I do? Every time the battery drop to 0% the problem occurs. I'll wait a more stable version.

great work btw ;)

Something is seriously wrong with my installation. As I mentioned earlier, phone was working fine after the new build. But, now, same wakelock (suspend_backoff) issue popped up (after nearly 2 days). Here are the details of the same:

I kept my phone unplugged for night (only mobile network was on and set to 2g). No wifi, Bluetooth or anything else was running. I was doing it to test battery backup. For initial 4hours it went to sleep perfectly. Then automatically, it woke up and stayed awake. There was no change in mobile network, or any process (sync, call or alarms) trying to wake up the phone. Even the sync is set for every hour for cLock and calendar, so it should have run 4-5 times, before this issue happened. I have no idea what made the phone stay awake.

So, I tried to take a log, by using shortcut and developer options. and the phone rebooted. I tried multiple times and same issue every time I try to take a log. So, I thought of using terminal and adb to create a log. Terminal just showed "waiting for device" for 10 minutes, creating an empty file.

Now, I have no idea what to do. Phone is screwing up every attempt to take a log, so can't even do that. Battery stats log just says "suspend_backoff" wakelock atleast a thousand times. Only thing I can think of is play store running sync and messing up, which has been happening since last build. But, there is no trace of any play service in battery stats log.

I faced the same Samsung Bootlogo bootloop, but then I replaced the boot.img with the one from the older builds and it worked fine. :)

Will test and post accurate results by tomorrow. :)

Please share the rom flashing sequence with us if you can remember. Hate this 3g default setting but dare to ask any dev to fix this cause they already aware of it. And you know repetition is irritation! Just Waiting.

Now I know why I was not able to install Apex launcher after converting to ART. Its because Apex launcher does not support ART. When I install xposed installer then phone gets automatically converted to dalvik again which is compatible to Apex launcher.
Anyway anybody able to send files via Bluetooth?? I am not able to send file.

EDIT :I also experienced a small bootloop problem. Actually I was trying to play music and then phone suddenly rebooted. And it boot looped 3 times. But after that phone is running fine.

for those who wants log here is how to take it:
press vol up + vol down + power at the same time for 3 sec. when the phone will vibrate let it for a minute to write that dam log that is huge... more than 2 MB. Afeter that you can find the log in the sdcard>bugreports.

Wow...thanks :D This helps me a lot.
Just few min ago I faced a sudden reboot. And after that it just stuck at bootscreen for more than 10 min. So finally I have to remove the battery and start the phone. I have attached log. Please have a look.

great work btw ;)

good news: before come back to ginger****, I tried this:

1) latona pit
2) KPE
3) KPQ
3) CF root for KPQ
4) UC kernel v9
5) CM11

and........it is f**kin works! everything is good except for video recording (I dont need it). System is not smooth at all, but hey....I got a CM on my crappy SL ;)

and btw, with android tuner I reached 187 MB free ram.

I hope it lasts really long :p

PS: while phone is turned off, if I plug in the AC charger it immediately boot! No battery indicator, just boot. It is good anyway, but I suppose it is a "bug". If I try to remove battery, remove AC, then plug in AC again and insert the battery again....it shows the indicator!

    Installation Instructions

    IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE FLASHING!
    1. If you flash this ROM from Stock ROM, it will wipe data due to different partitioning. The device would reboot while flashing and resume again.
    2. Once on this ROM, the most effective way of going back to any other ROM would be to repartition from Odin.
    3. While converting the filesystem, your efs that has your IMEI is backed up to /emmc/backup/efs. Keep a backup on your PC just in case.
    4. Incase if you don't get a network signal, check if your IMEI and Baseband are proper. If not, go back to stock and try again.
    5. Do NOT use Odin to flash Modems. Due to different partitions, Odin will screw up your existing MTD setup.

    Stock ROM
    1. Flash CWM Compatible Kernel (CF ROOT)
    2. Reboot to Recovery.
    3. Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
    4. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
    5. The device will reboot and finish flashing.
    6. Reboot to Recovery Again.
    7. Flash Google Apps.
    8. Reboot

    Any other AOSP ROM (CM7/MIUI/CM9)
    1. Reboot to Recovery.
    3. Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
    4. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
    5. The device will reboot and finish flashing.
