The manufacturer AND users say that the: Fusion Control USB Powered and Controlled Rotary Volume Knob works well with android (as a physical volume control). The Fusion Control is not cheap (but less than the Griffin), and it should work.

Is there a reason you don't use a volume control on the amplifier itself?

Also, hacking into the physical controls on the N7 is not too hard. You could wire into the volume up/down buttons and connect a rotary encoder switch for real cheap.
Thanks again.
(As a newbie on this forum still have some issues with notifications.)
Digging a bit for myself, I've found a very promising solution to use arduino with a simple encoder.
The reason that I do not use the amplifiers controls is that I have no amplifier in the car, but a stock head unit, and the volume control is a lil bit too far (or my hands are too short). So I decided to put a knob closer to armrest, also the armrest permit to manipulate the knob with an enhanced precision while active driving.
I'm going to keep N7 and the car itself unmodified as far as I can. My installation will be a mobile one, so I can anytime eject the tablet and use it as usually, and move it to a new installation when I have another car.

After those steps Autodroid booted on my device, but OTG and PowerEvent Manager were not working. Here is my solution for that:

1.) Enable Root Access for Apps and give PowerEvent Manager permissions
2.) Reinstall Kang-aroo1.2 kernel from this Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2558717
3.) Check Wake Locks after every new App install, to avoid battery draining

After those steps OTG and fast charge worked like a charm for me. In my car I use a DVBT-Stick (RTL2832U Chip) with for listening to DAB+ in Germany (I had to replace my old radio antenna, because the original antenna amp in the socket filtered out the dab+ frequencies) with Wavesink Plus APP https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.ses.wavesinkplus&hl=de (expensive but its worth it).

Very nice ROM, no comparison to Timurs old USB Rom. Thanks a lot for that, I will test it more intensive on my way back home to Hamburg on sunday :)
Tried previous weekend these steps to fix continuously draining the battery while on OTG-Y and got a brick: my grouper would power off and wouldn't start, neither charge. It took me a whole day to resuscitate the device.
That's what I had done. Installed Kang-aroo v.2 kernel from mentioned threadover autodroid v.1.2 . Connected to a wall charger through OTG-Y (actually it was connected to an A-meter and this was connected to the charger). On this step battery showed charging (AC) - that was very good. Then I connected a D-Link 7-port USB hub to the same OTG-Y, and a stick, EasyCam and a DAC to the hub, and put some music to play. The hub was powering from the same charger as the tablet - I mean that the USB hub can be powered by it's own adapter or by the host device. In my case it was the second mode.
Well, from the start charger showed about 0.80A debit. But when I was entering the Battery section in Settings, it was dropping to 0.40A and staying there until re-plug.
In Battery section it was showing about 35-38% (I don't remember exactly) and it won't decrease, either increase.
Finally the tablet suddenly powered off. The rest you already know.
I admit that I did something wrong, but at a first look all it was correct and the tablet should work for hours and hours.

That's a very good point. So please name an alternative to these setup with the following requirements:

- OTG + Fastcharge at the same time
- Power Event Manager
- fits in Double-Din Slot
- 3G or 4G
- Strong GPS
- New Android Version which supports all those features

- Absolut Bonus --> GSM calls + Display Extension (no matter how)

If there is something I would change it ASAP ;)

I upgraded from old cm 10 and Timurs Kernel, so it is already a "security boost" :D Unfortunately there are no alternatives...=(

You should be aware that this ROM hasn't seen any security updates since 2014, so really HUGE security issues like Stagefright are completely unfixed.
So playing a simple Mp3 or MP4 file will be enough for a hacker to take over your device.
Use at your own risk - but please don't put any important data on your phone (no google account logins for accounts you have personal data in, no music service subscriptions, certainly no email or other messaging accounts).
If you just use it offline for e.g. OSM-based navigation and music synced via Cable from your desktop, you should be in the clear.

I installed autodroid and everything works except for power event manger. I am able to use an OTG cable and power and charge the nexus 7 and am also able to use usb devices through the OTG cable. I thought Power Event Manger is supposed to turn off the Nexus whenever an external power source is unplugged. Yet, this doesn't happen. I can still manually turn off the Nexus into the deep sleep mode through power event manager. Anyone know of a fix? Is there a setting I need to change in Power Event Manager? Everything else on the tablet works.

Turn on "Fixed install" on power event manager option.

Hi All
I have found one problem on my Nexus 7 2012 WiFi tablet. I have installed last Autodroid ROM but have problems on functionality of PowerEventManager.
When i try to switch on Fixed install mode and Fast charge in host mode to charge the tablet with OTG Y cable, after I exit options and open settings again the options are swithed off again.
In the logs of SuperSu i found that PowerEventManager cannot create a file below Sys/kernel/usbhost. Message is: " echo 1 > /sys/kernel/usbhost/usbhost_fixed_install_mode RED: tmp-mksh: <stdin>[1]: can't create /sys/kernel/usbhost/usbhost_fixed_install_mode: No such file or directory" . And this massage always when I want to switch options in settings EPM.

I tryed manualy create directory below sys/kernel/ but always with no result . Always same massage "no such file or directory.\
Also tryed to switch on RWX permissions under kernel directory, and permissions are for full acces of this directory
Nexus is rooted, chcecked by "Root checker Basic"

Can You help me, what i can do more? Without this problem solve i cant install tablet in Car

Thanks in advance
Best Regards
Waldek

Is there a way to make Easycap device work + charging simultaneously. I am using Easycap device with Easycap Viewer to play the video from reverse camera. Has anyone used this rom with a Easycap device?
