Not sure what happened but I decided to just do a complete factory reset and that fixed it.

Hi i jist updated from a few month old version. First i did a dirty update and the home button didnt work so i wiped cache dalvik and system but now im having a problem with google play not allowing me to sign in. And google searcj keeps force closing. Idl what to do? Full format of everything and a fresh install?

FYI

Although the firmware apps and GApps are flashed to the /system partition, their user data is stored on the /data partition.
After the dirty update went sideways, you wiped /cache, /dalvik and /system, then re-installed the firmware and GApps << the semi-clean approach.
I would guess that orphan data was left (on the /data partition) that didn't agree well with your new GApps installation.

A factory reset wipes /data (& /cache), which eliminated the orphan/conflict, leaving you a clean, fresh firmware installation.

Usually a dirty-flash is fine, and sometimes the semi-clean approach can save a funky installation, but sometimes you just end up having to start clean.

happy flashing

Working on cm12. No recovery support currently for this device so you'll have to know what you're doing if all goes well. Will be PURE ALPHA. In no way will it be a DD. But alas it will of course be coming with shift kernel. I feel good the necessary changes have been made to complete build. We shall see. Sorry I've been nonexistent but I've been busy in n2 kernel, n2 cm12, 2 n2 cm12 kernels with different mali etc. Hopefully I'll have something new to play with. I was running it earlier on n2

besides the slim gapps, what else are you guys using? banks, pa?

edit: tried pa pico gapps. works great, no problems.
