Read the change log thread everything you need to know is there.....

May be I am reading the wrong page? I went to the changelog which is the google plus page, and it seems to show announcement or features only but I still dunno how to 'use' the ROM. e.g to use halo it should be very easy by tapping a button in the notification bar, but I only see the button for Hover but not HALO.... and of coz, I just don see any menu of customization

Yes reading wrong place
You have been here long enough to know it's bad form not to read first post in a thread you join....
This is a development thread not Q&A

Thanks for your guidance, I just didn't expect it is put in the change log. I believe I have seen the right change log page now for the settings, but I still dunno how to use HALO... may move to Q&A and search

Clearly not read enough halo has long been dead replaced with hover, I suggest you take 20 minutes and read more than a couple of posts...
No one is here to hold people's hands more so when you have a link to the perfect source of information man

Thank you for your information, I was expecting that they come in parallel but not replacing, so I didn't try to find info in that direction.

I think I should stop this conversation here as it will become a personal chat in this thread. Many thanks for your guidance and patience again.

These questions are asked daily no direct dig at you at all...
Someone has gone to a lot of time to create the change log thread mate and that answers all your questions ;)
Plus look where this thread is not development related is it?

yes, you are right, but initially I though it is the 'start' point to ask question, then I realized that there is actually a Q&A thread created for PA.

Good man.... Wish more people were like you.....
If I was you I would grab a brew or a beer and just read change log... Everything will become clear.....
Doubt you will need Q&A thread then mate..

is a learning path, probably it is just too many features and they want to keep it as neat as possible , so they seems to be hidden and not that straight forward. The thing is, I used CM before, and seems like everything is more transparent (in my opinion, may not be the appropriate word), so the first impression I had after installing PA is, whether I am installing it correctly

(In fact I installed it 3 times, because the first time i got error of UID inconsistency, the second time seems fine but because I don see what I expect to see as CM, so I thought i didn't 'fully' install it and I install the third time = =....)

PA prefer the stock look mate... Look in settings display for instance....
Most settings are where they would be in a stock rom if they were included rather than a specific "additional settings" type thing like other roms..

Cant Grant Root Access

I'm on the latest version of PA, and whenever an app requests root access I can't press the allow button. The button look perfectly normal and everything, but when I try and tap it nothing happens. Yet when I tap the deny button it works just fine. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Turn off your battery saver/brightness control/screen filter app.

Its and android security feature. Not a bug

if that doesn't work, (if dev options aren't enabled) go to about, tap "build number" field 7 times, go back, go into developer options menu (which are now enabled) and select Apps or Apps and ADB under "root access" menu

sorry pirateghost, not trying to be a smartass here

What the first guy suggested worked for me, I should have replied earlier mb.

Btw, I'm from Bosnia too! :)

Guys,

I really hope you can give me a hand :fingers-crossed:

This morning I've finally updated my Paranoid Android to 4.5 version (it's been more than a year I was stuck on 3.something...) but with sad surprise...I've noticed that many cool features/tweaks have disappeared!

Is it really so?!

I mean, on PA 4.5 do I have the opportunity to tweak Pie Controls has much as I want? And what about the "per-app-resolution-feature"?

Please, tell me it's just me that I dunno how to surf the Menu...and not that those features have gone forever...

Cheers

im releasing a small revision update in a couple of minutes - just to keep the dependencies up to date. pie2 is a ***** to get right but its taking form. im working on this locally so as to not split it up into a million commits again - its easier for other roms to pick up then. i used a couple of days to experiemnt with displaying statusinfos like clock and notifications while pie is not shown but i always end up with something that either doesntlook right or it downright gets in the way of something.
the solution will be a new UI that we're building from the groundup, its called pie-strip. basically a very thin statusbar kind of thing that has pie activated by default. it displays clock, notifications, statusicons plus a ticker. it'll be just a few pixels wide. you'll be able to get to that UI via hybrid engine, systemUI will have a layout container for that, 2000p perhaps. the other UI's stay as they are, pie will also be usable in extended desktop mode of course. the 0% thing will probably go.
i can't say exactly how long but trust me i wanna get this out as fast as possible, its just a huge chunk of code right now.

i made a new build for today, looked like the one that was made when i was on vacation had audio trouble? i tested this one and it seems fine.
we'll also add maps to the gappspackage later.

its a bit quiet right now but we're basically planing our next move. the idea is to make a massive change in our lineup and the way we handle this rom. basically we'll devide the workload into categories: tools, core, optimization, gapps, kang and relations. 4.3 or whatever comes out will probably be the beginning of a new kind of PA, it'll split into a lean/slim version and others will supply a more feature-packed variant.

tools: we plan to fork our own tools for flashing, hoping that we can make flashing roms into something that doesn't scare away beginners. there will be tools, custom recoveries (in holo and without 10 million bull**** options), guides and we will provide things that are needed on top like radios, etc. work on OTA is almost completed aswell, it features delta updates, flashing is done by a click.

core: jesus, aaron, yamil and i will concentrate on features. that means rebooting them all: hybrid, pac, halo, pie and everything we have done basically. they'll change visually and the goal is to kill every - remaining - bug. goal here is to produce a google android extension that will feel like android-next without compromising stability. some new ideas are floating around as well, in our heads that is.

the other categories are clear i guess.

    biggest news is this, though:

the entire PA team will support current gen nexus devices. nothing else. that means designers, programmers, guys who do the optimizing, they all will get the same device. it will be fundamentally different from the usual approach where one guy gets to release a rom. we see it this way, if an entire family owns the same devices we really can create something awesome here, with dedication. as opposed to just releasing stuff broken or not to have a big device catalogue. not that we did that in the past, but legacy devices kind of got in the way and right now only jesus and I own the same device.

just a couple of scattered thoughts right now - we're discussing it day by day in our channels. in essence: we are tired of doing the rom-scene thing, we want a professional product.
