Hi, I believe you can install it in that TWRP version. You can use the latest open gapps arm 4.4.x pico. I left the LineageOS 14.1 project, because, I love CM 11, it is very fast. Not resource heavy. If you are going to install the CM 11, wait a bit because I will have a new build out soon with this months security patch. About the Oreo thing, it is slow, but one of these days I will put CM 11 back on my Ovation. If you have any issues installing CM 11 in the TWRP version you are using, feel free to contact me, and I'll be glad to help you with the issue. And yes, the August build is @amaces.Good morning. I was considering downgrading from lineage nougat (I think amaces?) built August 2017 because I noticed that my daughter's KitKat ovation was considerably snappier. It is a nice surprise to see a recently updated build! I am curious though, your signature shows that you are running AOSP 8.1 on your ovation. My first instinct would be that oreo is even slower. What is your experience?
Anyway, I just downloaded and will likely be flashing your CM build. I do find it curious that you started with Lineage and then go back to CM. Why?
So on to some technical questions. I seem to remember that I have to flash an older recovery (maybe even Clockwork?) in order to install the older KitKat ROMs. Is this true here? If so, do you have a suggestion? I am currently on TWRP 3.1.1.0 ...
Also, I am assuming I would require a gapps package ... Would the latest Opengapps arm 4.4 pico suffice?
Oh, there isn't really a change in lin11-cm11. only name changes. But I recommend updating to cm11, it's better and newer (I mean it got more updates than lin11). Your welcome. So the change from lineage 11 to cm11 was more than just name and logos then ... Good to know! I can wait a bit then. Thanks for the quick response!
Use this, https://notredame.app.box.com/s/26a4bygh9vbaw7jjq08xr5evomvaw5ww/file/316430889363 TWRP version.Heh... I seem to remember that there was some partitioning thing I did to get nougat on here ... It's been a while. Maybe I just need CWM or something. Gonna have to do some digging.. The SD card slot on this device doesn't work so I will probably need a PC for this. Check out the screenshot, attached...
Someone just ported the October 2018 security patch to Android 4.4.4. New update for this ROM will be out soon for Ovation and Hummingbird.Lol. Okay that's fine. I am still sure it will be much better than nougat. I didn't realize it was the whole of android that got the patches. I am surprised it lasted this long! I guess I figured it was the kernel... I still have September, so I will getr the latest pico gapps and get flashing!
It says that file has been removed ... what version of TWRP were you pointing me to? ... whoops. Double post.Use this, https://notredame.app.box.com/s/26a4bygh9vbaw7jjq08xr5evomvaw5ww/file/316430889363 TWRP version.
Works for meIt says that file has been removed ... what version of TWRP were you pointing me to? ... whoops. Double post.
I will be making a new build soon.So I finally got around to flashing this. I used the September version. I use the tablet only for basic web browsing and it it MUCH faster than when I had nougat on it. My only issue at this point is that I can't get the play store (gapps) going. I downloaded the latest ARM 4.4 pico gapps from opengapps.org, and it seems to flash without any errors, but no play store to be found ... Any ideas? Maybe opengapps screwed something up? Not really the biggest deal because I was able to download the apps I use via apkmirror, but a playstore would be nice ...
