so new build is up guys

a lot lot lot changes under the hood:

- tons of dalvik, skia, bionic and system core fixes changes and improvements
- activated SlimCenter for now (it will follow on a later point a SlimPlayStore which can manage the trds apps and gapps updates automatically)
- say hello to slims new file manager SimpleExplorer
- support for all shortcuts features if the user disables or uninstalls an binded app
- fix for 3dot menu button dissapears after disabling navbar
- a lot smaller fixes here and there
- fixed all sms/mms derpes
- and a small surprise I do not say where it is....lets see who discoveres it lmao

all in all I got major speed and battery improvements on my hammerhead (I do not really like benchmarks but I do them sometimes under same conditions several times to get a feeling if it is better or not....at least for me several antutu benchmarks show about 5k more compared to before.....30k to 32k is no problem now).

So test it deeply please. Dirty flash should be fine....but due of the tons of changes it is possible that it is needed to clean flash. So if you have any weird behaviour clean flash please. Dirty worked for me though I just needed to wipe wikipedia app data lol

have fun report back and cheers

Is this rom suppose to support ART? I did a clean flash, using TWRP clearing sustem, cache, dalvik cashe and data. Then flashed the latest rom and gapps. Then enabled developer options and turned on ART from the dev options. After the reboot, I get a series of google apps crash notifications.

Have I done something wrong to enable ART?

Thanks.

So I decided I'd like to try 4.4 and this ROM looks like a good candidate :)
I remember reading something in another thread about upgrading your radio and bootloader in order to run 4.4. Is this still needed and if so, could someone point me in the right direction for the things I'd need to do that. Also. I saw a link somewhere to the latest TWRP version somewhere, but I can't seem to find it again. So a link to that would be most helpful as well. I haven't updated that since I originally rooted my device, so I guess that's a good idea :)

Thanks in advance,
Raszagal

Really looking forward to trying this ROM out.

Sent from my Nexus 7 3G using xda app-developers app

Slim-tilapia-4.4.alpha.1.5-OFFICIAL didn't flash here for me, crashed twice (and I re-downloaded, yes).
Maybe I should retry today and check the checksums before ...

Question: will this ROM get tethering?

Very happy so far with this Alpha!

Thanks for your work, Stefan

Sorry, didn't check all posts, but what I noticed already:

- big battery drain
- bluetooth pairing doesn't always work from the first time
- no audio ? when using bluetooth it works, but low volume

DELETED...

Question about "Tethering" but as I did not know the english word, my search did not give me any results...
Found the correct english word and now have my answer : it is normal that I do not have Wi-Fi tethering with SlimKAT.

Hope it's gonna be implemented some day.

If not, I guess I'll have to stick to SlimBean :(

Regards.

Hi Smook,

Exactly. PIE is not implemented yet.

But originally, PIE was a Slim feature that others have then copied. SO I do not doubt that PIE will make it's way to newer versions of SlimKat.
Don't forget that, so far, SlimKat is still "Alpha", which means in really early development phase.

PIE should be expected with "Beta" versions, which prefigure the final version, but with minor features missing and with debugging needed.
Beta should not be long now as I have seen a beta was released yesterday.
Don't know if it's accessible to public though... for now.

Regards.

They talk about PIE in the features list, and PA made it, and then CM adopted it, and then Slim modified it, so it is a PA feature originally. That's per Slims own feature list.

Hi Cobra,

OK. I thought that the original PIE concept was a Slim concept. At least that's what I saw as an official answer. I think that other, like CM have then implemented something similar, but for some ROM without some of the refinements that SLIM introduced, like the ability to add a custom app into the PIE.

But of course, I can be wrong and will not tell for sure...

Regards.
