I have been following chasmodo for some time now.
Loved his asylum work, boot image, U.I images, miss them really.
Now I'm here on dirty unicorns, excellent work.
Except I can't find any dirty unicorns, so here I contribute a suggestion.
A dirty unicorn.
Maybe make a boot image with it being animated.... Scooting across.
Again excellent ROM.

Hi Chas Sir !

What is the different between 15th Test Build (du_n7000_4.4.4_20140715-1854.zip) and 15th Weekly Build (du_n7000-4.4.4_20140715-WEEKLY.zip)

Sorry for this noob question. I just want to clarify which is worth to update and what are the differents :D

Thank you.

Guys,

My charging problem is really serious. Battery continues to deplete while I am using it even when the phone is connected to charger.
İs there anyone facing the same problem here. Charging is soo slow for me. :(

Excellent work.

This Du ROM is really bringing my old N7000 back to life ! :)

The only anoying thing is that GPS fix is poor and does not seem to support Glonas (which was one of the N7000 strenght)

Any idea on how to solve this ?

Change your battery?
Replace the charging daughter board?
Same problem on other ROMs?

Considering to change the battery.
However, it was not the same for any other TW based roms. Was charging fast, I mean as it should.
I tried pc connection and three different charger. All resulted in the same way.
There are other people facing the same problem as well.

This is what makes me think that there is a charing related problem with the DU 4.4.4 ROM.

But the Rom itself is fantastic :)

I use an app called "faster GPS" on Google play.... It really speeds mine up.

I get my GPS fix in about 30 seconds (in less than a minute strength is excellent) so I doubt its the ROM's fault.
Yep... I get the first fix pretty quick too but the satellites' signale varies very much and I quite often loose the fix...
Probably hardware related, I'm afraid...

I loose GPS fix only when I enter a building, so it might be a problem with your hardware.

Hi

I don't get it.
I have changed both my battery and charging daughter board in the time I have had my Note.
The N7000 is an old device so things will go wrong........
I don't experience the problems you describe and the DU ROM is probably the best all rounder for the N7000 today.
Just make sure the current problem you are experiencing is not happening on other roms.
Was it fine on TW Roms yesterday, but not fine on DU today?
As far as i am aware, the DU ROM does not change the charge rate etc. for our Note so it should not be any different than a Stock ROM.

Have fun................ FF

Stupid question.................... Did you clean or dirty flash the DU ROM?

When I clean flash I wipe everything but my external SD card after doing a Factory Reset.
Probably overkill, but I've never had any problems with flashing any Roms (since the EMMC bug was addressed in custom kernels).
Here's a link with a little more info about what to wipe when switching ROMs.
NOTE: I always check the MD5 of files I download to make sure I haven't got a corrupted ZIP file.

Also, I don't restore apps with Titanium or Rom Toolbox Pro, I clean install them afresh.
I restore app data for some of the games I play, but that is it.

Whether the above prevents some of the problems that others seem to experience is debatable, but as I said earlier I don't have any problems.
Maybe I'm just lucky, but maybe it's worth a shot for you to determine if it's the way you are flashing and rebuilding the device that is contributing to the problems you are experiencing.

The other avenue open to you is checking to see if you have a rogue app.
It may not be that the battery is charging slowly, it may be that there is an app draining the battery at such a rate that it gives the impression of slow charging, you can monitor this with Better Battery Stats (BBS).
Or you can clean flash and see what the charging is like before installing any apps.
If it is charging okay without any apps, then you have a rogue app.

Hope the above helps.

One last thing springs to mind:
I had a serious problem with Google+ draining my battery and keeping my phone from sleeping, which also made the phone look like it was charging slowly.
Once I removed Google+ the battery drain was normal again.
I can't remember what ROM I was on at the time, it was a few months ago.
I now use Google+ through an internet browser, which works fine for me as I don't tend to post to Google+.

Good luck diagnosing and fixing your problem........ FF

Thanks for your hard work to make our device glorious :victory: I'm playing with Test build 15042014 :good:

I appreciate your help. Thanks a lot.

As for answers and replies;

- Yes it was fine with a TW based Rom yesterday, and now it is not with DU today. So I suspect if it is a battery or charger daughter problem. Also, one of my firends is facing the same slow charging problem.
- Chasmodo also confirmed that there is no change at all in the kernel, regarding charging current.
- It was a clean install. I flashed lots of Roms and I am aware of its importance :)
- I also prefer not to restore any app via TB. I just restore data for some apps.
- I already deleted G+ since I dont use it.
- I checked with BBS several times. Phone goes into deep sleep, there is no wakelocks, etc. When the screen is on, battery tends to deplete so fast. This could be some other app maybe. I did not check it but i will. However, after I turned off HALO and AppSideBar there is a progress in terms of battery life. Though, I still cannot understand why battery depletes when the screen is on and the phone is connected to pc via USB.
- And I am on RAW kernel. I recommend you to install it. Phone is a lot colder now ;)

Thanks a lot for your interest and help. Really aprreciated.

Would you advise to install RAW kernel r6 for KK4.4, after flashing DU 7.7?
No issues?

Thanks (I love Chasmdo's roms)

No worries............

FYI, if the charge rate is the same as on TW, then current is lower when connected via USB.
Something I remember from the NoteCore days when Gavin was playing with different charge rates.

I haven't tried the RAW kernel but I was a tester for Forest-CM11 Omni variant kernel, and that worked fine with V7.7.

Did you have a different charging experience with stock DU kernel as opposed to RAW kernel?

Also, if you do replace the USB daughter board at some point, be very careful what you replace it with.

Have fun.................... FF
