Flashing from Gingerbread

The flashing instructions say that to get a Selinux compatible recovery
you can flash the chasmodo raw_kernel_r4_j43.zip kernel.
Can I flash that kernel directly from the N7000 stock Gingerbread rom (rooted), or do I need any intermediate steps?
(such as flashing the stock JellyBean rom perhaps?)

Thanks
~Paul

Probably, yes. No steps in between..

So, any news on theming? Or how about a flashable zip with the systemui to revert changes just in case? Please?

Would it be possible to get rid of the little shadow at the top of the status bar?

On Nova Launcher btw

First off, I have no idea what you're on about here.

Second off, n7000 is an ancient device woefully deficient in basic under-the-hood development, so your statusbar shadow is about as noticeable a problem as a mosquito's [email protected] in a hurricane.

I think he means the gradient shadowy thing for the status bar and navigation bar that Google introduced in Android 4.4. The only way I can think of for removing that is Xposed, and AFAIK ROM devs hate that :D

I am talking about the shadow on the status bar as can be seen in this image.
And I know the device is ancient and such, it was a simple question asking if it is possible.
