I cannot reproduce it since I'm in Europe, sorry. Could you grab a logcat and post it here?
Also, which US carrier are you using?

chasmodo, probably it can be linked with a bug I've reported about tethering on Nexus 5:OK, got it. I'll have one of our Muricans take a look at it.

Sure thing, I'll provide whatever feedback necessary.I'll compile a test build for you with a possible fix tomorrow, but I'll need feedback, OK?
EDITED: Or at least I'll try; it's a two part commit and the Settings bit refuses to revert nicely, I'll have to try to revert it manually .
UPDATE: This has been super stable as a dirty flash, so I'm not going to clean flash 7.9.Dirty flashed V7.9 over KitKat 4.4.4 Team D.I.R.T Dirty Unicorns 20140818 v7.8 Test Build without any problems so far.
Seems more responsive and smoother.
Loving the new Shutdown and Busy animations, very professional and awesomely in keeping with the boot animation.
Glorious work @chasmodo
Looking forward to a clean flash sometime this weekend.
This ROM just gets better and better.
I would never have guessed that the N7000 would still be an awesome device this long after release.
Thank you @chasmodo and all other Team Unicorns devs and supporters for keeping this awesome device alive and kicking.
Long live the N7000
UPDATE
Signal strength seems to be improved
