Some updates:
I flashed to 20141007 from 8.0 official and reverted to Holo theme pack... 3 days of intensive use and all went smooth and without any issue.
Then I put again the Cobalt theme pack (without applying Bellota font), I noticed some lag in screen transitions and while using keyboard, until I got another extreme slowdown/freeze which required me a hard reboot. I wasn't at home so I wasn't able to get logcat.

Still without enough proof, but I wish to focus attention on Theme Engine...
I have two questions for everyone who suffer freezes:
- which GApp package do you use?
- do you use a custom theme via Theme Engine?

Changing topic, what about the battery loading animation? I mean the battery icon (which in DU seems a greyish rectangle with a micro percentage text within) you get when you plug in the phone to charge it, and your phone is powered off. Is there a way to change it?

I can concur that I am facing same kind of freeze/soft reboot problems, mostly while tezting. I am using TouchPal X.
And I am using Lg G3 Theme icons. I was facing the same problems when I was on Android L theme.
Will give a try to Holo Theme pack and delete the rest.

always about freezing while texting...

I retire my "accusations" on Theme Engine: I still got some freezes with 20141013, one while texting, the other one while doing... nothing :-/ And I was with Holo with AOSP keyboard...
But, just before reaching my PC and being able to get another logcat, the phone soft-rebooted itself...

Today I got another freeze just by launching Wifi Analyzer, but I wasn't at home... I retried later but I got no freeze this time.

No idea what can be, apart a particular app doing messings (according to my previous logcat,Facebook? Java? )... and no idea what to do but collecting logcats...
... and flashing up to latest testbuild!


Changing topic again... is it safe now to change lockscreen wallpaper? I don't see anymore the warning about it in the first post of this thread

Hi Chasmodo,

A change is always as good as a rest, and I keep swapping and changing ROMS like I change my underwear.... (too much info??). Anyway, I always keep coming back to Dirty Unicorn....

However one NEW feature which I am glad has made it to this build is, Call Recording. However, I have done a couple of recordings but do not know, or cannot find where these recordings go to?? Can anyone shed any light please...??

Strange... I removed for purpose the stock browser via system app remover and it returns on each dirty flash

Perhaps is the stock browser removed from a GApps suite you use?

Confirmed, a soft reboot and a freeze in less than a hour here.
Now I trying to freeze certain apps via TitaniumBackup, hoping I can come with something useful to pinpoint the issue once for all...

edit: judging from last freeze got just now, culprit is not Facebook/FB Messenger :-/

Carbon Rom has a stable theme engine. But I like DU more. Carbon doesn't have so many features.
Many themes can be used in Carbon but cannot be used in other rom.
Moving theme.apk to our rom and replacing doesn't help.

It cannot be Facebook or any other facebook related app.
How do I know this? I know because I have the same freezes and I am not using facebook at all. Not even a member

Edit: Not using g+ (already deleted) either. Only textign apps I am using are Viber, Whatsapp, Kakao, Hangout (though not that often). So if the porblem somehow is related with any text messaging app, it could be one of those maybe. If not, then maybe java related problem. Dunno.

Looking around, a bad choice of Java functions/methods/how_they_are_called can freeze the UI:

Ignore my comments, I have since found the location of the recordings... I was looking on External and System... Why I didn't bother to check Internal Storage is beyond me.... lol

Quite simply, locate [Internal Storage] and under a folder called [CallRecordings]. Awesome, another great feature added to DU.

Is anyone using phone with this rom in car? Cant get my car mode app to work (Ultimate Car Dock). Everytime I press home button i get back to nova launcher instead of the car app. Anyone know how to get it to work or mb a different car app that works?

Ivé had soft reboots on mostly any circunstance, even with the phone idle . All of them are soft. Will try to catch a logcat when I get home

Random FCs have increased with this build and so have system freeze and reboots.
I guess the legacy device is finding it hard to keep up with development!
KK roms BTW were always susceptible to random FCs and reboots on Grand old Note.
But, all said and done, the tradeoff between stability and features has been the best/ most optimal with DU amongst all other KK roms.
