Some progress with memory scripts (especially INT2EXT)?
Try Link2sd. If you want to swap storage, there's a script something like a2sdx. Its modified to work on 4.4.2.
Anyways, I'll be having it in my final build

Can you build a version not HALO?

No. I can't remove halo. But i can add a switch to disable it. Btw, what's your problem with halo?

gapps ?? i think gapps are missing and there is not enough space to flash ..
what to do ...
the rom is awesome .. very smooth
Yea. There isn't enough space for gapps. You need to free up some space, around 15 mb and then flash gapps light.
This is because it is still in beta version. The stable one will have gapps inbuilt.

And for making the ROM smoother, I will try to integrate Adrenaline engine in kernel (partially) because it conflicts with data files and sd-ext with some scripts ;) \m/

All of these ROMs must be trimmed before use. Easy enough to get enough space for the smallest gapps zips. Everything else as user-apps.

Yes, and that's why I'm trying hard to swap /system and /sd-ext to get more space in system for gapps.
It will also make it possible to add OEM specific system apps

Most all gapps are just fine as user apps, even better as such.
OEM specific system apps need be evaluated individually but many of them would also be fine as user apps.

Because newer, costlier phones have a load on nand memory, everything gets dumped on system by creators of ROMs, especially OEMs but see it on XDA as well. To me, only what is needed to get Android up and running properly really belongs there.

Beta-5 changelog
  • Rebased to latest OmniROM
  • ActiveDisplay (Omni feature)
  • Smoother (Thanks again to Omni)
Differences between this and the latest OmniROM build for P500 on dl server?
Still has Halo/Xhalo)) (can live without it, use Floatifications)? (Omni takes the 0x2000 flag for its split screen.)
Split screen implimentation now?

This version has HALO. And this ROM too has the 0x2000 flag for split screen.
The problem here is, HALO too has 0x2000 flag for itself. And thus it sometimes conflicts with it.

Downloaded, made my- copy.
Opened in Ark (KDE's zip/tar/ ... GUI).
Did my usual trimming.
Resulting file substantially LARGER than original.

Attempt to rezip edited updater.script fails--some sort of corruption, invalid zip format. Ark can still open it but ...

Are you doing anything funny with these zips?
(Possibly KDE 4.12 Ark not good?)
EDIT: Yes, that's the problem. Downgraded, it is OK.

Then it will be buggy. Recommend removing Halo.
Or can I simply disable Halo in settings?

NOTE: Found battery life for low-usage substantially better in February 27 build than in April 6+ builds. Moderate usage not really different.
Maybe a fluke?

More:

The Omnirom is not rooted. Clean install will not have root. To root, use your superSU flash. Making the script on first exercise of GUI will make this persistent.

The Omnirom is missing some files needed for GPS. Get them http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2640843&d=1395338047

Going in sequence,
The ROM is already trimmed. Atleast for the gapps.

Can't remove HALO. As said before, I'll try to implement a switch for it.

Yes, the battery is a bit improved, but, frankly speaking, it's a bit poorer than beta 4

Yes , you need to flash su. Forgot to mention.

And thanks for the GPS thing. I didn't see about it

I trim these ROMs to bare metal. With February 27 Omni, I have 13 meg free on system.
I trimmed about 10 meg off beta-5. That is ... compressed. So (maybe I am wrong), ROM as-is will simply not fit.

A toggle in settings->more, alongside omniswitch (hope you have that operational in beta 5) and split screen. A good many flashers may want neither. Choice of one or other. Both will necessarily be buggy, but might be fun if the UI could hit both of them :).

Thing is, Feb build battery life is the best I have had on recent ROMs. What spoiled that in later builds is a mystery because precious little has been changed. I would not mind trying to patch in split screen over what I have. Got a zip for that but who knows?

Problem with these omni roms is that the device adb is "offline" during boot so no ready out of bootloops! Pulling the battery and three fingers is very problematic at best. So here is a mod if you wish to play: Give Omni-ers back full-time adb like in CM ROMs. Not having that is a big, even crippling problem for testing experimental or beta ROMs.

Another mod might be the off-line charging bootloader, but this is very easy to live without and forget about :)

Issue: Recent (armv6) Omni and cm-11 ROMs have non-Latin fonts removed. Can be simply taken off older versions and pushed, but ... Linux, Android, XDA -- this is an international community and many of us regularly use non-Latin fonts and languages. Change should be reverted. Let's here some voices here!

Issue: OpenDelta (and the CM-delta in your other versions as well)
OpenDelta's (I assume, the armv6 dl.) server is hard-coded in. The thing now simply downloads full ROMs from the server which is worthless. But if it did get true deltas, these would be between ROMs on this server, not your versions. Mukulsoni provides his own deltas for his cm-11 ROM. Might consider this as well. Even so, since everyone will trim the ROM differently, some use old baseband fix, put in the GPS stuff, OpenDelta might not be useful in our case.

I too want to resolve it, but don't know how to.
Let me correct myself, I haven't tried yet.
It would be grateful if someone helps me :)

Willing to help but do not know enough about how this (is supposed to) works to simply dive in. For devices necessitating user mods to the ROMs (like ours), the whole thing might be flawed--high end phones ROMs dump everything on system without problems so everything is simply there and changed items are consistent. Maybe consult with mukulsoni first off since he is doing this now (though it seems most of his clientelle end up installing the whole ROM).

I am going to talk to him about. But only before the stable release (soon)
