This is probably not the best place to ask, but are we ever going to get a new kernel for the N7000?
So there are still people who believes that a new kernel magically gives 900 more hours of battery life and 800x the performance?

Also, yes TWRP fstab is wrong -- if you want to go back to another rom in the meantime, just re-flash another recovery/kernel.

Is there a particular reason to still use the 3.0.* kernel considering all the new features since then?

Graphic performance boost for AMD Radeon hardware, RAID5 multithreading and XEN enhancements are probably very useful on a mobile device.
Really, none of these changes would have an impact on the device that would justify spending hundreds of hours updating the kernel.

I meant the changes since 3.0.* right up to 3.12, not just 3.12. But if everything since 3.0.* is not relevant to Android, then fine, if you say so. Have you already looked at the various changes and thought it wasn't worth it/changes already got backported or you just don't care to check?

In my opinion kernel is not really important at this time.
Xplodwild is working on giving us a KitKat for our N7000 and is doing a great job!
Thanks for your efforts!
And btw GeeckoDev is doing a great work with his kernels and I am sure he is looking forward to improve them on a 4.4 Rom.

I want to say a big thanks to the whole Omni team for giving our old phone a longer and smoother live!
At the moment it is experimental but with these guys I am sure we will have a alpha soon ;)

Edit: And of course a big thanks to GeeckoDev, too :)

We (developers) are constantly looking at kernel updates. So far, none have provided a life-changing change that would be worth going through the hassle of updating kernel to a new 3.x revision (which, as I said, takes a LOT of time). As I said earlier, it's not because you are on kernel 3.10 that your battery life is going to double, or that your device will all of a sudden be twice as fast - you would barely notice anything, probably more placebo than actual enhancements.
Even the Nexus 5 is still on 3.4 when 3.12 is out. If Google could save some battery life with just a 'simple' software update, they would have tasked a few engineers to update that stuff already.

Having a few engineers do things like this you mean?

No, i dont think you should focus on the latest linux kernel, it may give some extra performance, but at what cost?
Just do what you do best.
And we all thank you for it

My quick diag:

SDcard unavailable(expected), even on TWRP (not expected! :D ), so be carefull (had to adb sideload a rom to fix my mistake)

No sounds. If i touch the volume keys, i hear the beep of the sound level, but when i try to select my ringtone or notification tone, no luck.

Camera does not have Sphere (that expected, it's nexus exclusive)

No APNs. (couldn't add mine either)

Drop the kernel version issue. Though running a current version is nice, it's nowhere near mandatory.

My touchpad is still running 2.6.35, JB 4.3, almost everything is working as expected, performance leaves the note dead on the water, battery is not comparable.

So, i don't care what kernel version we're using... it's irrelevant.

No sound...except when on phone call, could hear the other party. And YouTube and Google music are broken!
Restoring back to 4.3.1

Thanks for this PREVIEW!

Ýes, something is indeed wrong with audio playback.
some sounds work(Volume beep, google now voice search, call), others do not(music, ringtones)
Video playback fails completely. I tested youtube app, mobile site, and MX player
AVRCP 1.3 Is not working either.

On the other hand the ui is really smooth, possibly the best yet, and it seems stable for the little while i played with it.
For those without acces to their (internal) sd card in recovery, go to advanced, terminal command, any location, then enter the command
Code:
mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p11 /sdcard/
