Hey guys. I just got the gpad and am going to put Slim on it (and only Slim). I was hoping somebody could confirm the steps I'm going to take? It came with 4.4.2 on it.

1. Already rooted using towelroot.
2. Use flashify to flash twrp (the recovery image).
3. Backup stock ROM
4. Flash the 4.2.2 bootstack and boot back into recovery to then flash ROM/gapps

Is there anything I'm missing. I've been trying to pull info from different threads and seems like that should be correct. I will so be flashing from an exfat SD card.

Any confirmation or change would be appreciated. Thanks, guys.
I would format cache, system, delvic and data. then flash away, always do a nandroid back up just in case.

Thanks. I knew that stuff but I've only had Samsung phones and an Asus tablet so LG is new to me. I ended up having to use that bat file to to get twrp to stick (I'm away from PC and can't remember where it came from) and change the info in the file to 20d at the end. Got it all up and running now. Its great getting a new tablet and immediately being able to run Slim on it. :)

Someone explain to me why I get flash error when wiping system and the others?? If I just wiped data, cash & dalvik ones I get succeed flashing!
When you wipe system reboot to recovery. The partition gets unmounted. You can also mount the partition within the recovery but rebooting recovery is easier.
Its a problem with recovery not specific to this device.

AHA, got it!!

EDIT: After I wipe system I want to restart recovery but I get no OS installed, and I figured it out that I don't need to wipe the system... It wipes automatically!!

I never had this problem. TWRP 2.7.1.0 wipe > advanced:
Cache
System
Dalvik

Flash ROM
Flash slim gapps
Reboot.

Always the same procedure on dirty flash.

On clean I wipe data as well.

OK, it's well known issue I've never experienced too, but I always dirty flash.
Also, there is zero reason (except irrational paranoia) to wipe cache and dalvik when flashing ROMs. Flashing a ROM wipes them automatically. So wiping dalvik and/or cache before and/or after flashing a ROM is a waste of time. Not my 2cents, it's a fact.

Might be true, but for some reason does e.g. my hosts file
(Edited by adaway) not change back to stock if I let the installer
Handle the erasing of /system.
If I erase /system using the recovery, the hosts file gets replaced.

And for this reason a manual wipe seems a bit more clean to me.

Edit:
Few more examples, the installer doesn't fully wipe:
Gapps won't be erased, art cache doesn't rebuild, so I guess it's untouched.

I didn't say /system. System not equal dalvik/cache. If you want to wipe system that's another story.
Art rebuilds every time I flash ROM and I never wipe cache or dalvik.
Anyway do as you please.

I have a question about tablet's play store visibility: I can install application on Play Store directly on the tablet but I don't see my tablet in the settings (https://play.google.com/settings) when I'm on a computer and so I can't install application from play store on a computer, I have to do this on the tablet....

Do you know why and how to solve this problem?

question before i throw the tab in the drainzzz

Hi all,

Coming from LRS 2.0.0,I enjoyed Slimkat very much,,tnx.

Now I'm getting nervous because of the screen dimming ,even when autobrightness isn't activated. iI'm getting sick of time and again diving into settings and playing around with the slider to get the screen back to readable. Is this a known bug, a system feature or is it me ? FYI,on LRS ,I didn't have this problem. Any workaround/update or do I drop the Slimkat and get me another ROM ?

Or ditch the lot and go back to paper 'n' pencil ?

Cheers,

Dirk

What is LRS 2.0.0 and what bootloader do you have, 4.2.2 Jelly Bean or 4.4.2 KitKat?

LRS is based off KK stock with bloat removed. As pointed above, customer recovery/ROMs don't play well with KK bootloader. Best solution is to revert to JB (look around the forum) and then flash recovery again. Dimming is a known problem with a easy fix.

@dirlan2001
There is now easier method. See this thread:
[HOWTO][V500] Flashable zips to change between 4.2.2 and 4.4.2 Base and flash 4.2.2 base. Then flash SlimKat and slim gapps

Hi ,

Tnx for answering 'massively', but I have the impression I didn't explain clear enough. It's not the dimming problem at boot, but the screen getting darker and darker while using the tablet. As if the autobrightness decides to have the screen darker as it should be. Besides, autobrightness is NOT active, but it still dimms the screen. Anyone ?

'edit' : as coming from LRS (50020A) I'm on base 4.2 so that's not an issue
TIA

Dirk, don't take me the wrong way, I'm just trying to help, but I don't think anyone of us is having the issue so it has to be on your side. With these non-nexus devices shït gets messed up and there isn't enough users around here to duplicate your problem. I would flash stock 4.2 image and start clean. Also, correct me is I'm wrong, but LRS 2+ is based of 4.4 stock ROM. I used to use that ROM on JB before he switched the ROM region. Good luck!
