I already enabled USB debugging and unistalled the adb drivers.

I also disabled real time protection on my Windows Defender since I don't use antivirus.

I still get that adb error in XZDR :
"adb is not recognized as an internal or external command"

I gave up. There was also no prompt to grant access for any permission when I chose any options in XZDR. I tried the latest XZDR and also the packaged one, but to no avail.

Got a feeling it is Windows 8.1 issue as well, I never had this when I was rooting using my Windows 7 last year.

I'm going to try TWRP now, maybe it is much easier. Thanks theduke7 :D

UPDATE : Tried the link you provided to install TWRP using apk, still failed. OMG!

It says 'Remount system failed!'

This is just frustrating, I wonder if I need to factory reset and start all over again.

UPDATE 2 : I've done some checking and they said the TWRP method using XZRecovery doesn't work for newer versions of Android, that is why the remount failed. I hope that is true. I'm seeking another alternative to get recovery into my XZ.

UPDATE 3 : I fixed the adb problem by altering the environment variables after installing adb
Now a new problem emerges. It says that my XZ doesn't have busybox

UPDATE 4 : I tried using TWRP Manager to install recovery, it didn't work. It installed the recovery but did not reboot into recovery. After that, when I accessed TWRP manager again, it said that custom recovery is not installed or detected. I really give up, lol. Is there a way to start all over again? I would like to flash this rom into the XZ without recovery, is it possible?
that's very weird, unfortunately you can't flash a zip Rom directly to the phone without recovery...
do you have the xzdr folder directly on the C:\ drive (not inside any folder just directly on C)
there're 2 ways to go from here, 1- post this last post with the screenshots on XZDR thread, people there should know exactly where the issue is, it's not a problem with the recofvery itself but at least i think they should know what's causing it,
my recommendation though from looking at the Screens , you still on .228 firmware, i had issues with it also, so i suggest you flash .222 firmware from Flashtool , this way you're 100% sure there's anything wrong with the ROM itself, a clean install, immediately root it, and then install recovery, if you installed the drivers on windows8.1 right (signature vitrification disabled) it should work, i actually even did it on windows 10 and it works fine,
strange thing also why at the beginning of the screen does it say device not found !!!

I'll do what I can. Trying to make time to fix this issue. Now I will need to find the .222 firmware which is in FTF format to be flashed using flashtool. Then I'll start all my steps all over.

At least with a fresh start, I should be able to identify if it is my laptop's Windows 8.1 issue or the ROM issue.

My XZ is from Asia, therefore I must download the .222 firmware that is used for Asia? My country is Malaysia, beside Singapore.

Update : Planning to flash this ROM

But I'm unsure if it is okay because this firmware is for Mena Arabic

don't flash this if it has the kernel it means it's only for unlocked bootloader, if the ftf doesn't include the Kernel (the kernel is to be flashed by itself) so it's ok...
flash the following
https://mega.nz/#!4JZGQZyR!LatWoNqMa1yGAFtg1j51cRnojAtLxqYcQGT3oxDcur4
it's a safe unmodified ftf.
also the Customization of any ROM doesn't matter much as long as you don't care for any OEM stuff that may come with it (like if you're on a specific Network OEM and need that exact OEM) otherwise any Customization (Mena, Central Europe...etc) are the same, all android roms include all languages, and you'll be prompted to select the device language after installation

Sorry for the late reply, was busy with work.

Finally flashed and am on .222 now.

I managed to root it after performing factory reset twice.

Then, now I'm still stuck with the same error from XZDR.

I tried TWRP manager to install the recovery and it still doesn't work despite the installation completed successfully.

I shall follow up with XZDR thread.

Thanks for the help everyone, I truly appreciated it a lot.

EDIT : The culprit of the problem is my Windows 8.1. OMG, wasted so much of my time. It was solved when I used my Windows 7 on another computer. Problem solved!
