protected apps I don't know about that option. Go for srisurya aosp with layers, slimsaber and my favorite Exodus in original development section. you are good to go. battery life on cyanogen mod roms in always bad. Well only slim based rom going to give you good battery life after aosp.

I have been using this awesome feature since cm11. Settings>Apps>upper right corner. U can also access proected apps by long pressing homescreen.

Is not your phone, same issue here, and i fix that doing a full wipe (adavnced wipe, all) then restart to recovery (from recovery, of course) copy ROM and gapps, then flash, reboot and wait.
TWRP 2.8.7.0 ( last versión )
Good luck

Is there a way I can install it without doing a full wipe? I really don't want to have to re-flash everything and re-install all my apps and start over.

I'm getting a lot of battery drain from Google Play services, specifically Checkin Handoff and Event Log Handoff. How can I keep these services from keeping my device awake and adding more battery drain?

I'm not sure if you can do dirty flash, but i think, you have to do a clean flash (wiping data, system, cache, dalvik/art cache), but always that's the best option

I just caught my phone soft rebooting. I don't know if it's the first time, but I have no way to provide logcats bc I don't know how to provoke it.

Rigth now? alpha stage it's something i can not handle very well... I am rigth now with AOSP from Alberto97 , waiting for at least a Beta 6.0.
2 weeks, no more, i am complety sure about the ETA, remember, this is a very popular phone, dozens of developers are still working In this terminal.

    The Android Open Source Project

    Code:
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
     */

    What is AOSP?
AOSP is Android as Google publish without other modifications. More or less AOSP is the Nexus devices stock rom without gapps.
Anyway to get a working system I added some changes from CodeAurora Forum and CyanogenMod. I added also 3 non-AOSP features for a better user experience (Advanced Reboot, "Clear All" button in Recents and an option to delete screenshots from the notification area) and I'm NOT going to add something other.

    Download
    Basketbuild (SingleSIM) (deprecated)
Basketbuild (DualSIM/CDMA) (work on single sim too)
    Gapps
    SuperSU

    Features
    Working:
    • RIL
    • WiFi
    • Bluetooth
    • Audio
    • Mobile Data
    • Offline Charge
    • USB OTG
    • MTP
    • Hotspot WiFi
    • ...

    Not Working/Bugs:
    • Stock SMS app can't send messages (Solved in 15/04/2015 build)

    How can I install it?
-Requires Unlocked Bootloader & a custom recovery

If your bootloader version is < 41.18, read this

    1) Place ROM & Gapps in your virtual SD
    2) Reboot in Bootloader Mode
    3) Go to "Recovery" (Vol -) and confirm (Vol +)
    4) Wipe Data/Factory Reset
    5) Wipe Dalvik cache
    6) Install the ROM zip
    7) Install the Gapps zip
    8) Install SuperSU zip
    9) Reboot

    Update Available!

New Update available! Check the second post for the changelog.
Anyway, I don't have time enough to add CDMA/Dual SIM support, so I decided keeping this only for single sim variants.
Just a second thing... STOP ASKING ETAs or updates. This is an AOSP, how many updates do you expect?
    26
Good news for Dual-SIM and CDMA users, I'm uploading a TEST build with these features!!! :D Many thanks @LuK1337 too for some Dual-SIM patches. Anyway this build, as I already said, is a test, so it has some bugs which I'm trying to fix. About the sources, they are already there since 4 days in lollipop-5.1 branch. Finally about M; there is anything about M in google "android-m-preview" branches, they are just a fork from "master". If I have time, I'll trying porting the developer preview but I don't guarantee anything

EDIT: I forget to say I have a really bad upload speed at the moment but I hope to publish the build in the next 2 hours
    22
Surprise! AOSP changelog yesterday linked was wrong -.-
So new builds are available with lost changes.
As always everything is available at the second post (r8 fixed changelog too)

Just another thing, I'll be on holiday until 19th July then I won't be active/very active anywhere.
    Hope to stay alive,
    Alberto97
