@magnamentis how to extract boot.img from war kernel r2. just using winrar? n do i have to use the boot.img file for that app u given in link?
you can download or copy the zip to your device and use a file browser to simply copy paste the boot.img to the preferred place on your sdcard. this is by far the easiest way since there is no additional app or pc needed for it.

Damn. I waited an update for long and now it has a kernel that sucks. :(
Hope this gets back on track.
not that we know that it's no issue anymore, just flash rom + the kernel you used before or want to use from now on and all well. the only thing which was a bit of an issue was that before this version i could flash the rom without loosing my recovery while with this version it does.

nevertheless i recommend the kernel dev to use at least a recovery that let's us flash anything as usual and make and restore nandroids. cm's revovery is really the worst choice IMO while i have to say that this kernel is the best i've ever had on lollipop on this device. lags are reduced by
quite a bit ( a lot better ) which is why i was reluctant to change kernel again, but i have 7 devcies in simultaneous use and cannot afford to work
mod, and tweak them without having a recent nandroid backup available at all times :)

Hi. Guys.

As you. I flashed the new version 5.5.9. No regrets. Works well. Thanks again to devs. About the kernel, very good for lollipop N7000. But about the recovery, what a joke!. I couldn't flash another one over it. And I was thinking both are attached. So I stopped to try tricks to change. I don't want forced issue or brick. So is anyone has a clear tuto. Remember keep the original kernel with another recovery, TWRP. Thanks to all. :(

I do not know if there is a compatible TWRP , all LP custom kernels I know include Philz.
AFAIK the dev uses kernels developed by @bauner. If you use Settings->About Phone you can probably identify which kernel number, and retrieve it from the Nightowl thread.
At this time I use War r2 with RR5.5.9, with good performance and battery life.
To flash a kernel, use the Install Update function of the built-in recovery and reboot.

-all cm12 bugs-
Flashlight will not work with screen off
face unlock
Screen recording is not working
instagram video upload.
Screen mirroring/chromecast is not working
Your sdcards should be formated with vfat (ext4 is working since 20150913 too. Exfat support is unknown)
Device Encryption is experimental working since 20151030. If you wan't to test it make a backup in the recovery first!:good:

Is the flashlight on screen off also working with no connected usb cable or charger?
Is screen recording also working with
Code:
[I]adb shell screenrecord /sdcard/demo.mp4[/I]
or will it freeze the device?
If it is working which frameworks/native repo do you use?

The instagram video upload problem is a (hardware)encoder problems which exists at least since cm11

I'm tracking archi's frameworks av and native
Apologies, I tested all these options on my bacon
I thought this was a ROM specific issue , didn't know it was device specific
Not sure if they work on n7000
But the screen recorder should work with the inbuilt screen recorder
Also if you want to fix torch I think you should merge this in fw base and add overlay to boardconfig in galaxys2common
https://github.com/ArchiDroid/andro...mmit/3987eeacbb8568e4b195de2d795a54cde3baf8cc
This fixed the screen off torch issue on my i9300 and another device

Thanks for the torch fix.
If you have some time can you please try the screen recording with the n7000 and your rom and tell me if it will work.
It seems to work on the i9100 but not on the n7000 and I wan't to fix it...

hello!
When I wanted to install the 5.5.9, I did a "factory reset" as usual and since I "can not mount storage / sdcard0". I could finally install the ROM and Gapps but I end up with a new recovery and SDcard0 is still not mounted, so I can not access it.
How to mount the internal SD please?

1. Do the factory reset
2. Do Full wipes reset as below
a) wipe cache
B) wipe dalvik/art cache
C) go to advance options then do this step
i- format /system
ii- format /cache
iii- format /data
iv- format /preload
D) Now you can install the ROM from the Install Zip
E) Then install the gapss / programs from the Install Zip
F) go back and reboot your system

And lastly hold your breath and soul hopefully everything is working fine... Finger crossed [emoji2]

The above steps are applicable to all other custom rom out there.. Unless stated otherwise. [emoji41]

Cheers and have a great weekend.

Ok so; I had to flash a recovery to navigate (4.93.6 philz with odin)
Then I applied your method. except that the "Format / preload" was in error. Still not having access to sdcard0 I also formatted sdcard0 with the "Format / sdcard0" then I reinstalled everything and it works nickel.
I am therefore now 5.5.9. For cons, I have the new recovery I like it at all but hey it's okay.
Thank you a lot of hand

It's good to know you're happy.. That's one of the beauty of flashing rom.. There's an effort, some trial and error.. And there's a happy face at the end of the process. Cheers mate!

I am looking for updating my N7000 to the last ROM it will ever have (it will sto p being used at all).
I don't plan for this to be 5.5.9, I'll wait for a newer version.

The problem is this: My power button stopped functioning (or is locked pressed, I am not sure). Luckily phone turns on when I remove batter and reinstall it (this is why I think it is stuck pressed).
But I cannot press to switch it off, or reboot in recovery mode or whatever.
The question is this: Can I do this with software? Can I switch to recovery AND use it to install new ROM without the power button working?
