jbmc83 I have had a similar problem. I use an app called xplore which is a file browser. If I use an old version everything is fine but if I update to the newest version I get the same problem as yourself. I have tried a different launcher (apex) but still get the same problem if I update the xplore app. As you say the only way back is a fresh install as the tablet becomes unusable.
Very strange.

yep, i also tried using nova launcher and deleting trebuchet. that helped matters a little bit in that the crashes came much later, but they still appeared.
i dont get how updating apps through google play could crash the launcher...? if this keeps up ill see myself going back to kitkat, no other option left unfortunately...
but first things first, lets see if i can pinpoint the issue to the exact app update causing this...

Yes I think that's all you can do. In my case its the update for the xplore file manager that does it. If I don't update it everything seems ok.
Like you I don't understand why an update can do this but have tried it several times and its the same every time and only with that app.
Its a shame because otherwise this rom is working for me much better than the original one and I don't really want to go back.
Perhaps your investigations will show up the problem.

found it, greenify is the culprit! when i restore it from titanium backup or twrp it just works, but once i update it via play store BAM! launcher force closes and system keeps rebooting and becomes unuseable.

first things first though, wanna check and see if there are any other troublemaker apps causing this behavior....in any case, the problem now finally becomes manageable

Funny that the same as me its only when you update from the play store.
I have turned off auto update and will now do it manually so I will know If and what is the problem.
Hopefully when our dev gets time we will get an update.

i checked every single app from the titanium backup, it was only greenify that caused trouble. old version 3.4.3 runs just fine, but the current 3.6.2 makes the system go haywire. now checking which is the newest version i can safely use, then just gonna stick to that...

in case anyone's interested, 3.5.2 is the most current version of greenify that does not crash the system. 3.5.3 and onwards makes the tablet go haywire with this rom installed!

also, i went for a modded apk of greenify so that my gf wont have to deal with nagging play store updates

I hope testing is going on.. i wish I could be part of testing but sadly i left tablet at home. Hopefully we will have a stable rom in 3-4 months with devs great efforts!
Edit: one thing I notice is that source code is not yet released which may cause issue if by chance any mods comes here and check they may lock this thread. I really don't want to see the thread to be locked ??
Maybe some one may get inspired and make other rom with that source code

Yeah about the source code you're right. The thing is the device tree is still a little messy. Let me get this update done and then I'll upload it. As for other devs I don't think this device has any other left

Talking about source code: can we get it before a mod comes and enforces then rules by closing the topic because no linknis provided? We don't care about the tree being messy. It would also help solve bugs by people that understand aosp code or even get pull requests...
