I too am still on cleanrom but I feel like soon i will need to update for security reason. Been waiting for samsung to release 4.4 for note 2 verizon. Maybe it will just be easier to upgrade to a new phone than a new rom ?

For everyone who loves cleanrom and it's fluidity and battery life, I would suggest that you guys try the Galaxy S5 kit Kat port , posted in one of the forums in android development. I'm loving it so far..

My girlfriend's Note II (my old one) is still on CleanROM ACE 5.0. What's the best upgrade path from here to a CleamROM-esque 4.3?

Her GPS has stopped functioning for the most part. I grabbed GPS Status and tried to reset but it doesn't even get to listing a # of total satellites.

Is this available for the Verizon Note II ???

I'm confused here?

I see that this CleanROM is in the Note II thread, but when I go to Scotts website, It looks like it's not supported any longer? All I want is a simple, clean, bloat free ROM for my Note II which is at version VRALJB and stop it from EVER getting an OTA update. I don't need anything fancy, I DO need the ability to do wireless tethering which is my MOST imprtant feature, otherwise, I just need something that works!

Am I in the right place???

Please advise!

Thanks

Tom

Thanks for the reply!

Can you recommend something? I just want a simple, bloatware free ROM, as I only want to be able to use wireless tethering and a couple of other apps Verizon doesn't like. By the way, my phone is

Verizon Galaxy Note II
Android 4.1.1
I605VRALJB
BUILD # JRO03C.I605VRALJB

Does it matter that I am running such an old version?

I just had my motherboard switched from one of my original Note II's that had a broken screen and it never took an update.

MobileTechVideos did the switch (and did a great job!) and rooted it for me and installed an app called Team Win Recovery Project, but I don't know anything about it? I went to factory restore it so I could install a custom ROM, but I didn't know whether having that on it would brick it if I tried to restore it to factory? Do you know anything about Team Win Recovery Project app? Does it stay on even if I do a factory reset? Will it screw up my phone? Should I remove it first or will it help me install a ROM? I'm completely in the dark here!! :(

One more question. Can my phone get an OTA update if the simm card is removed? I have wifi on so I can browse with it but I'm worried that having it turned on will cause it to try and download an update? I tried to install apps from the play store but it fails downloading. i guess that's because the simm card is out?

I'm trying to find a way to stop all OTA updating and I heard there's an app for that, but I can't seem to find it doing a search? Any ideas what or where one might be?

Please help me with any of this if you can!

Thanks

Tom

No he left long ago. If you want something newer than 4.1.2 look around, there's several good ones.

TWRP is not an app but is a custom recovery which you will need to install a rom of its custom. That's the recovery that I use and I too had mobile tech video work on my note 2 and had them take it back to 4.1.2 and is unlocked bootloader.
If you want a good rom I recommend Alliance build 26 if you like to make y your rom look cool. This is one of the most customizable roms for this phone.
Good luck.

I just loaded clean-ROM on my wife's VZW version HTC One M8. The reason I wanted to get a ROM was because of the issue with Verizon phones porting over to a GSM carrier. She was having trouble with the signal, which was to be expected, so I started the rooting process. Now that the ROM is installed, is there anything I need to do in order to ensure the phone will not continue to have the same problems as before? I tested texts and calls, and they were both fine. Wifi worked too. I checked the network connections and it's currently showing connected to GSM/UMTS, but I'm unable to select a network operator. Not sure if that's an issue.
