Vertical White Line

I think this is a coincidental hardware issue, but I'll post here first to make sure I'm not completely off-base.

I was in the process of upgrading to the latest version using the clean install method. After wiping cache, dalvik, data and system, I installed the 7.0 zip, gapps and fi dialer. Phone took a long time to boot so I got impatient. Realized I didn't install the vendor.img so jumped back into recovery and installed.

Upon next boot, there is a vertical white line, around 1 px wide, from top to bottom of the left side of the screen. It appears immediately on boot, even an instant before the bootloader text when holding power/vol down. I'm assuming the device has a problem. But the timing of it presenting itself makes me question whether I did something wrong.

Thoughts?

Wipe and do everything again to see if its software related.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've actually already done that. Also updated the bootloader from fastboot to the latest for the 5x to make sure bootloader wasn't the problem.
Crap that does sound like a hw problem somehow. I guess you can go as far as flashall google factory image, if something is corrupted that could fix it. The vendor partition has the drivers which would include the lcd? Unless I'm wrong about that.

Ahh. Good call. I'll give that a shot and report back. Thanks again for the responses.

Well...that's weird. Did a flash-all with factory image and still have the vertical line. The timing on this was just bizarre. It happened immediately after flashing the vendor.img downloaded from this thread.

Either way, talked to Google and they agree it's a hardware problem. They're sending me a new phone. :good:

I guess it was worth a shot to go back to factory, I doubt flashing could ever cause it. Good thing you have warranty still.

I agree. One more oddity though...the line doesn't overlay the underlying pixels. It actually shifts them over and leaves a white line in the blank space. Not sure I can explain it right...and it's probably not worth posting screenies since they're sending a replacement!

Yes. TWRP 3.0.2-0 will only work on encrypted 7.0 (not FBE encrypted) if you fastboot flash Marshmallow vendor.img prior to booting into it. Then flash the respective 7.0 vendor prior to booting into a 7.0 rom.

Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

That's strange, because I flashed the vendor, radio, and any other IMG before booting into recovery to flash the ROM + kernel + gapps. I'll try flashing vendor image from fastboot again.

*not all mods from marshmallow will be in the first build so be patient as i add your favorite mods, etc!
*as of right now the rom only has substratum legacy support. will update to full blown substratum as the stability increases for N!
*changelog doesnt display anything for this first build as all changes are listed on github/xda op, changelog will be back next release!

Okay guys the time is here, finally 7.1.2 for purenexus officially released!!!

    a couple things to note:
*the rom is now signed with private keys starting with 7.1.2 this is good for security purposes, but you will be required to clean flash this build, going forward you can dirty flash as long as it is an official release
*i have removed the built in gapps for "nexus devices" i however will not respond to any bug reports using open gapps, use the newly made BeansGapps alongside purenexus for the best results!!
*this release mostly is focused on stability and getting all the features from 7.1.1 into 7.1.2 without issues, next release will be geared towards going over the feature request section of the g+ community
*with 7.1.2 google updated the radio and boot loader i suggest fast-booting those as well

ok, Lets get to the goodies!!
