Due the low interest in this ROM, im abandoning it. I dont have any motivation to build anymore when i see that people are interested only in latest Android version, which is stupid in my opinion.

Also, i think this is the last ROM. I will try to build AOSP 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 only for my own J5 model, but i wont be publishing it. Ill keep it as personal build.

Im sorry for the guys who were using this ROM and were waiting for a new update with the hardware button options included and the launcher Paged drawer bug fixed, but i simply lost my motivation. I can share the SlimLauncher with bug fixed if you want.

This is how i feel now and i dont think ill change my decision.

PS: The download links will still be available and the thread will be open.
I respect your decision, but I second with what JaanZZ has posted, i.e. I was waiting for an update to try this.
Having recently learned how to build myself, I was hoping that at least you would stick around so that I can learn from someone. (Following a build guide does not make one a developer).
Maybe you could simply post your builds without reading the forum and responding to users as some developers choose to do? Or some other form of involvement which would suit you.
Peace
ajislav

p.s. On a side note, I am baffled by the fact that no developer has picked up on the fact that there is huge demand for all the nonF/nonFN variants. We have several MM and several NG roms, but only for F and FN. If there is indeed some kind of rivalry between developers, in my opinion, whoever makes a MM build for the j500 H/M/G/Y/07/08 variant wins the users.

Guess what that's what I will do

Too bad this had to come this point. Did like your work, but haven't switch to it yet, I was waiting you to get next update done. Hope that you would make one update more.

I understand your frustration and agree with you that it is stupid to look for next android version. It won't be stable for long time yet.

Best luck for your own builds.
J5 community is losing great developers day after day ??.

Personally i'm much more interested in 6.0.1 rom,but due to the fact i use j500H i don't have choices.

Thank you all for your replies...
I'll continue building after all. Your replies are the ones which changed my decision.

Ajislav, first, lemme tell you that I lack knowledge too. Secondly, the device and vendor trees for MM for the other models need some modifications just like you said in some previous post. I lack the knowledge to do that, but I'll try.

Once again, thank you for your replies and support!

I can confirm that @#Henkate is one of the best devs this community ever had and ever will have. It takes so much motivation for a person to develop in community such as this. So few people here care about stability and perfomance, yet, when they see "7.1" they go crazy and support developer. Henkate is trying to do a great thing here for our little community. I myself am not using this ROM, i am on stock but i check everyday ROM section, and i see a lot of good devs giving up, and it is because of us. We lost Ganesh and Nick but guys, try not to lose this dev.

@#Henkate Please brother don't give up... Keep on the good work!! We really need stable Ll and MM alternatives to stock crapwiz before Nougat builds, and you're on the right way... You don't know me but I know your work since your debloating script for Souvikpal just to show you that there're lot of us LEARNING and following the threads and not always appearing only for bickering or collecting thanks. Thumbs up for your hard work.

Slim/AOSP is my favorite ROM, I'm following this thread since beginning but haven't tried this rom, waiting for stable/volte supported build to try.

Thanks for room.

Reading the latest comments I installed to try on my J500M.
I installed the F version and for my good surprise don't find any bug, thanks for the great work.

I come back to my RR 5.1 (from #Henkate too) but i'll try to use this for daily later.

Do you have plans to put a option to disable hardware buttons?

Thanks

Thank you for your comment!
I don't think I'll add other feature as I intend to keep SlimROM as it is.

However, if I'll manage to get AOSP working, then I wanna make my own rom based on AOSP with the features I use and I might put the option you've asked.

I'm currently building Slim6 for J500FN to see if the missing hardware button remapping option show up in Settings.

An update...

Thank you for pointing that!
I copied the features list from an official thread and edited them a bit (light / dark theme part), but I didn't notice the hardware keys rebinding or I forgot about it lol.

I have found the commit regarding hardware keys rebinding here: https://github.com/SlimRoms/packages_apps_Settings/commit/5ccf95f00932789d3fc2ba1259acb350cdd5de50 .

It is already in ROM, just that I have to add the config.xml for the hardware buttons and I'll do it tomorrow. I think that's why the settings doesn't appear.

The next update will have the hardware keys rebinding feature!

Once again, thank you for pointing that!

I'm currently building Slim6 for J500FN to see if the missing hardware button remapping option show up in Settings.
Hardware button remapping option:

Just finished that build (took 4 hours) and the hardware button remapping option doesnt appear in Settings and i have added the necessary lines mentioned on the Slim github. In logcat doesnt appear anything. Im currently out of ideas.

Dual sim: SIM switch on/off is not working:

@updesh94 : I kept searching regarding this problem since my last post to you and i still didnt find a solution. I have also opened an ticket issue on Slim github thinking that someone could help, but i didnt get any reply yet.

J500G users, did you try Slim6 on your model?

CM13 J500F has been confirmed working on J500G, so Slim6 should work too. Just remove the assert lines which check for phone model in updater-script and try.

Im moving on to AOSP 5.1.1 / 6.0.1:

That being said, there wont be any update for J500FN and J500F unless the remaining bug camera would be fixed (present on cm13 as well).

Ill make a flashable zip with the SlimLauncher bug fixed (bug mentioned at post #2).

This ROM is stable enough for daily use.

I will move to AOSP 5.1.1 or 6.0.1. I still have to decide which Android version. I think ill choose 6.0.1 since CM13/Slim6 is faster than cm12.1 and has better battery backup. But Lollipop smooth & battery backup can also be improved with some tweaks for smoothness like -O3 flags or other things and hotplug or other CPU settings for battery. A good example is Koloses kernel, where people reported battery and smothness improvement.

If ill build AOSP 5.1.1, it also means that there wont be any trouble to build for the other models as 5.1.1 device and vendor trees are done for the other models.

I know i have told you that i will try to build Slim6 for the other models too, but ill try to do it with AOSP 6.0.1. I will try to build only for J500H to see if is working, but its most likely it wont work as i lack knowledge to make the needed changes for device and vendor trees. What i could do is to compare the device and vendor trees with J500FN and J500F ones...

I hate Samsung for doing so many J5 models.

I hope you understand me.

POLL: AOSP 5.1.1 or 6.0.1?

The poll is available now. Please consider following things before choosing:

Marshmallow 6.0.1:

- i have noticed following improvements over Lollipop: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70847581&postcount=494
- it still have some camera bugs: it doesnt work in Snapchat / Skype video call
- device and vendor trees for the other models (others than J500FN and J500F) are not done and i dont think i can make the needed changes

Lollipop 5.1.1:

- the only bug is FM-Radio
- the smoothness / battery backup can be improved by using -O3 and other build flags, using hotplug and changing CPU settings for battery and other kernel changes
- i can build for all models without trouble since device and vendor trees are done for Lollipop

Also, i wanna thank again to all people replies regarding my recent decision.
You have no idea how much it matters for me.

Hi thanks for your effort.

I would prefer 5.1.1 as it contained the least bug and the vendor are ready for almost all variant of j5.

However, it is missing the most important feature that I like about 6.0.1, which is adoptable storage. It is important for j5 as the phone has low phone memory. Hope you could add that for 5.1.1.

Just my 2 cents

:)
