@len207 why are you surprised? It's like installing a factory image from Google ... ;)

Normally installing a custom ROM requires a full wipe of data and system to work properly. It is not something that usually works well if you don't. I have flashed multiple phones/tablets and it was a surprise to me to find one that dirty flashed AND worked! I notice it says "Heidelberg " in your information. I was in Heidelberg Germany while in the Army. Remember it as a great place to visit!!

Yes, Heidelberg is always worth a visit ... ;)
But I have to disagree to your statement: you are not installing a custom ROM, you are installing plane Android which is the same as being used for all the nexus builds. The only difference is that no Google Apps are included ... but that is done by flashing the gapps package right after the system image.

AOSP build + Gapps -> factory image

Same apps, same data structure so no wipe needed.

Just install and it's so snappy fast. Thanks for your efforts. Quick question: are the gapps supposed to be updated? The launcher and settings look lollipop

Now on tap started working for me after I installed it as a system app (I'm talking about the Google App btw). This then caused lags on the tablet, so I deleted it and reinstalled it as a data app from the Play Store , but the on tap function kept working.

Truth be told however I really don't find it very useful, except as something to play with on occasion.

Rotate Bug

@vocoderism

I've just noticed that on waking from deep sleep, rotate works for a seccond and then gets stuck, so there's just enough time to get it to switch orientation once. It then will not rotate again untill a reboot.

Yes, it locks up with too many apps opened. I did try limiting three to run in back ground but did not help, have to reboot evertime.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app

Sudden freezes . does anybody experience them? Especially in heavy apps

Yes, setting maximum background processes to 4 in dev options helps, someone did recommend setting it to 2, but I thought it might be too aggressive. As with everything, YMMV..

I also use Chainfire's Recently app to clear all recents before putting the tablet down for a while, it includes a handy clear all button :)

I suppose it's due to heavy write operations. If the trimmed space is used completely it's blocking for some time to free up enough space for the next write operations. In addition I noticed art processes running in the background which are additionally slow down everything ...
