Hey mate, great job! Everything worked fine with sfos-upgrade from command line! Thanks a lot!!!
Just a question... I haven't prediction text, it's normal? Thanks again.
Antonio from Italy. :)
Hello ! Glad you like it :)
Right, text prediction is missing in community ports, it's one of the few proprietary components
only available in official ports (like MS Exchange and Android apps support)...
But ! There's in fact a free&libre app which I didn't try yet : SailfishKeyboard
Should be installable easily using Storeman.
Although it doesn't support many languages yet, there are instructions for adding new ones...

SailfishOS 3.0.2.8 beta5

Update from any previous betas using OTA :
has to be done from commandline (on device or through SSH, USB prefered) because the graphical client in settings doesn't support community ports.

Code:
# Install sfos-upgrade package like this, or through Storeman (beware 2.7-1 is [URL="https://github.com/Olf0/sfos-upgrade/issues/23"]missing a « fi » line[/URL])
curl -O [url]https://openrepos.net/sites/default/files/packages/5928/sfos-upgrade-2.6-1.noarch.rpm[/url]
devel-su
pkcon install-local sfos-upgrade-2.6-1.noarch.rpm
sfos-upgrade 3.0.2.8
reboot
# Patience, it takes an additional reboot to flash boot partition
# Go to commandline again and run :
devel-su post_sfos-upgrade
or install by flashing
sailfishos-idol3-release-3.0.2.8-20190525-beta5.zip

(this replaces previously installed SailfishOS and SailfishOS-data, backup if needed)

SailfishOS 3.0.3.9 beta6

Update from any previous betas using OTA :
has to be done from commandline (on device or through SSH, USB prefered) because the graphical client in settings doesn't support community ports.

Code:
# Install sfos-upgrade package like this, or through Storeman
curl -O https://openrepos.net/sites/default/files/packages/5928/sfos-upgrade-3.0-2.noarch.rpm
devel-su
pkcon install-local sfos-upgrade-3.0-2.noarch.rpm
sfos-upgrade 3.0.3.9
reboot
# Patience, it takes an additional reboot to flash boot partition
# Once back in SFOS again, go to commandline again and run :
devel-su post_sfos-upgrade
or install by flashing (BACKUP first if you want to keep data from previous SFOS install)
sailfishos-idol3-release-3.0.3.9-20190607-beta6.zip

Changes
  • See SailfishOS 3.0.3 release notes
  • Enabled on-demand proximity sensor management :
battery usage seems lower, and screen-stays-off issue on events (clock, calendar, call...) less likely to happen

I've held it up far too long, hoping to fix USB tethering problem, but no time and 3.2 is already at the door...

Hello, i've got a hand on 6045k model, and tried latest sailfish os (beta7). It is a very interesting project. I couldn't log in to google acc, and sync my contacts, not even import vcf, or carddav. Do you have some information about that? Thanks.

Hello,
did you add the G account using Settings -> Accounts -> Add account ?
Same place to add a CardDav account. Never tried it but should work afaik...
Importing VCF should work by copying file on phone then Settings -> Apps -> People
or open it in from Storage explorer...

Since Ubuntu Touch uses most of the same stuff as SailfishOS...

How difficult would it be to get Ubuntu touch running?

Is it as simple as linking the config used for SailfishOS up to Ubuntu touch, or is it more like, you need to create drivers specifically for ubuntu touch? (Because I would love to see ubuntu running on my 6045Y!)

It shouldn't be too difficult since most of the components (kernel, device/vendor trees) and config (fixup-mountpoints) should be reusable and without too much surprises, but Halium porting procedure should still be followed.

After upgrade to version 3.2.1.20 camera not working. How fix it?
Does it also happen with advanced-camera (can also install it from Jolla Store or Storeman app) , or only with default camera app ?
Can you get logs so I can see what's going on ?

Hi vknecht, how do you do? Any news?
Sorry, no news on SailfishOS front, but getting good progress with running close-to-mainline kernel with postmarketOS,
so it's a bit hard to go back... I know I should eventually do this update...
