Hey there, so I have been on Pure Nexus 7.0 for about 6 or 7 months now and last night I decided it was time to upgrade to the newest version. I clean installed, wiped everything out, installed TWRP 3.1.0, flashed the newest vendor image, then flashed pure nexus 7.1.1 and booted to the ROM, everything seemed to be good (obviously couldn't do much without GAPPs) rebooted to recovery, flashed the version of GAPPS in the post 3, booted up and immediately kept getting hit with all sorts of errors from Google Play Services "Google Play Services has stopped responding" just about any time I did anything.
So I wiped everything and reinstalled the ROM but this time with mini GAPPs thinking maybe it was an app in particular. Same deal.
Long story short, I ended up wiping clean again a few times trying different variations, finally I uninstalled the Google Play Services, and installed a version off of apkmirror. That seems to have made most of the errors stop. Then I found out that the majority of my woes were from it not having permissions, so I set literally all of them on for Google Play Services.
Now I only have some issues signing into things like Youtube app, my swiftkey for my backups, and I do still get an error upon reboot saying Google Play Service has stopped or something to that effect but it never comes back after the first time.
I'm not against wiping it all and starting over again if someone has an idea of why this is happening. Thoughts?
Is literally no one else having these issues with the recommended GAPPS?
I have since found that my battery draining at an alarming rate, I had to charge my phone twice yesterday and the second time was after I got home from work.
This morning I have hardly even touched the phone, maybe streamed music for 15-20 min on the way to work, and its been off the charger for 2 hours and I am at 66%
Google Play Service is #1 and Android system is #2 on battery usage.
I thought I had fixed my "Google Play Services has stopped" messages by downgrading to a bit older version, turns out I am still getting the message pretty frequently. I have gone through and added permissions to just about every app I can see just to see if that helps but it hasn't seemed to.
Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?
