Yes, it was...because of well documented personal issues. Now enough! He owes us NOTHING! If he does put out an 8.1 there should be gratitude galore, but this doom and gloom attitude is not welcome in this thread!

XDA was founded on the principle of people learning from each other and becoming developers. This entitled attitudes I am reading here is why developers are stopping work or going to their private G+ groups.

When everyone left the Epic 4G for newer devices I learned how to make an updated ROM for the last firmware and put it out for the community.

That is how XDA grows!

Merry Christmas to all supporting this ROM, device and all those having trouble!

Please stop assuming that just because someone mentions a devs inactivity, that they're being entitled and are complaining. I insinuated nothing of that attitude and was just pointing out that I wouldn't keep waiting for any update at this point if you're security conscious (as I don't like being more than a few months behind on security patches). But given that text can be hard to convey feelings, I can see how you and many others construe this as complaining.

To be clear, I've donated to beans and expect NOTHING in return, as I've already received a stellar product from him and am grateful for all of his work up to this point. He's a talented dev and I have nothing but respect and appreciation of him. So I'm completely fine with him NEVER returning to ROM development again if that's the case, but I would definitely be sad to see that and actually don't expect it to happen. It just doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon (and again.. that's absolutely fine with me - I'm NOT complaining.. guess I'll have to clarify this every time I mention a devs inactivity). I'm well aware of the personal issues he's mentioned before as well.

I'm only here to wish good luck to the moderators...

Hah, indeed.. I have a feeling there will be more need to keep moderating this thread until Beans is active again. I'm not sure what the policy is on this, but it may be best to just close the thread and let Beans unlock it and update it when he's ready. I'm pretty sure any common issues with the current ROM have already be discussed and resolved for others to search for here if need be.

It's good that you clarified as people who don't know you may have gotten the wrong impression. :D

I'll never understand why threads with ROMS that are the most stable are also the ones where 'update fever' always seems rampant. I love PN - so smooth, so stable, so full of just what I need. I'd not only wait, but I'd still be happy if this *was* the last version - which I am sure it isn't.

@beans - enjoy your holidays, do whatever makes you happy and thanks for the great ROM.

All mods/liaisons/whomever helps out on this thread - thanks for your patience and your knowledge and happy holidays to you all.

I agree with you about never understanding people with "update fever" on stable ROMs. Just try better to recognize those people instead of jumping on the reply bandwagon, because I'm not one of them.

I'm sorry for all the strife I've caused by mentioning a devs blatant inactivity though. It's nothing personal, but I see it's hard for people to not take it as such. I've seen many get flamed for it and should have remembered and expected it as well. I'll be sure to not bring it up again, at least here, for everyone insists on taking it in the worst context (which is understandable, I've been guilty of it too for sure).

I half expect this to be "cleaned up" by mods now, but I'd also like to extend to everyone a Merry Christmas, esp. Beans and hope he's happy and well!

I think the users are mostly nervous because android 8.1 was released, and the most popular ROM is still on 7.1.2 without any status updates.
I don't know how many (if any) devs Beans has working with him, But the DU team was almost done with 8.0 when 8.1 dropped and they decided it was easier to to do a complete re-basee of their code.

Anyone have kernel recommendations to work with Pure Nexus? I ran Flash kernel for a long time, then we support ended went to Electron, but support has ended for that, too. I suppose Elemental is left, anyone got other suggestions? I'm just looking for efficiency, latest security updates, and Magisk compatibility...

ElementalX has always been my go-to kernel when using stock or an AOSP based ROM such as Pure Nexus. I'd recommend giving it a try.

I went with some 8.0 and 8.1 ROMs for the past 5 weeks and battery life was garbage. Stability was so-so also. Came back to PN last night and battery life and stability are stellar again. Man, Beans is doing such a great job with this ROM.

I know PN is excellent but stock 8.1 has treated me well in terms of battery life. Just yesterday I had a 6h59m SOT with about 15h up time. If not for all the customizations of PN, I'd see myself stay on stock for the life of this device.

Well after a bit of an absence while rebuilding the rom from scratch for 7.0 i am finally pleased to announce the return of PureNexus!!

      a couple things to note:
*not all mods from marshmallow will be in the first build so be patient as i add your favorite mods, etc!
*as of right now the rom only has substratum legacy support. will update to full blown substratum as the stability increases for N!
*changelog doesnt display anything for this first build as all changes are listed on github/xda op, changelog will be back next release!

ok, Lets get to the goodies!!

New 7.0 Build with some more features, and some fixs, i am aware that 7.1.0 has dropped(pixel development branch) however it is not the final 7.1 and would be unstable as it stands right now(no kernel source, no gapps, etc). so i am going to stick with 7.0 until the final 7.1.1 source is live for stabilitys sake :)

Also i have taken over support of banks gapps and rebranded them as just "Dynamic Gapps" mini & full, mini is the traditional banks gapps, and full is purenexus gapps
