KANGVIP SLIM

Here is KangVIP Slim for the Mate 9 which includes a list of advanced features as well as the removal of some of the bloat. The ROM base is from the MHA-AL00 version. Please hit the Thanks button if you like what I've done. Thanks to everyone for all your feedback, help, testing and suggestions. Without you guys this wouldn't have been possible. This ROM is working on the MHA-L29 US version but should work on other versions as well. I need testers to flash on other variants and leave me feedback. The ROM is confirmed working on my MHA-L29 US version rebranded to C636.

Features:
4-in-1 Reboot Menu
Adaway
Dark Bloom Theme
Debloated
Deodexed
Gboard
Google Calendar Sync
Google Chrome
Google Contacts Sync
Google Play Store
KangVIP Tools
No Force Encrypt Boot Image
Pre-Rooted w/Superuser

Instructions:
Your bootloader must be unlocked
Boot into TWRP
Format Data to remove encryption or you'll bootloop. If you're not encrypted ignore this step.
Flash ROM
That's it, you're done!
First boot will take a few minutes

Big Thanks To:
The HRT Team
@mr.mrcn for the Dark Bloom Theme
Anyone running my rom

CURRENT VERSION

HELPFUL TIPS

The built in Chinese root app cannot be removed or KangVIP Tools does not function. Allow the Chinese app root access when it pops up then go into settings--->apps and go down to the bottom and disallow the app all permissions then turn off all notifications for it, then under Advanced disallow it to Draw over other apps and Write system settings. Then the app won't bother you**

Uncheck Show statusbar lunar to remove the chinese date in the clock

You will bootloop if your data is encrypted.

I can confirm its not booting on L29C636. it goes to boot and at the huawei boot screen sound starts playing, cuts out and phone reboots. My phone was rebranded though and L09C34B122 not on huawei servers but have OEM backup

If you guys have any trouble for some reason or it doesn't boot try flashing your original oeminfo and vendor back. I had to do that to get mine to boot.

So do you need to do the Root Mate 9 steps with the boot.img etc or can you flash this direct post TWRP flash and data format?

Its working on my L29 C567 converted to a C636 but only if I restore the original C567 oeminfo and vendor. This doesn't include all the extra hwInit stuff, you guys have to flash that on your own. The problem is when you rebrand, the phone still looks for the original cust/product that your phone came with. I added the USA folder from the original cust and version folders and I even have volte working again.

You'll know if your oeminfo and vendor are correct because in About phone your model number and system number will be the original that your phone shipped with. This is why I do not recommend rebranding.

Can i simply just back up original oem info and vendor from TWRP and restore when i'm done flashing?

I was able to restore from [ROOT] Full Root for the Mate 9 (boot img replacement and initial boot and phh Superuser_2.0_Beta_9.apk install) TWRP Backup although the screen is doing some wacky updating intermittent flashing.

Maybe a bad download, maybe bad karma that KangVIP didn't flash.

First. Thanks for all your work. I'm really glad to see this development on Mate 9. I've been on the Chinese AL00 from the start and was wondering about some of the mods made on the Kang rom.
I'll just list them and you can answer at your convenience (or folks could chime in as well). Sorry if there is too much emphasis on the Chinese side of things. I personally don't mind it. Just wondering if these features are still there.

1)Since Kang VIP is based on the Chinese version, is there an option to allow the Navbar to be hidden as needed?
2)In the default phone app is the Chinese phone directory still enabled?
3)Is there a Chinese phone number for assistance in the contacts?
4)Is there an option to answer phone with a command that is not in Chinese?
4)What happens if you long press the home button. Does a microphone image pop up that you can swipe up too. If so, does it open the Huawei Assistant which only wokrs in Chinese. (It would be nice if Google Assistent was there instead)
5)Which of the bloatware was removed.

Thanks again!

EDIT: One more thing. When I get a notification in regards to my calendar it happens to include the phone number of the Chinese Embassy! I think it can be disabled but I find it amusing!

Restore your original oeminfo and vendor, flash the rom (make sure data isn't encrypted first)
I have L29C567 as well. My phone isn't rebranded. The only only thing I've done is flash the dencrypted boot image for full root.

I wiped data anyways, flashed the rom, restored oem info and vendor, but was still stuck in a boot loop.

Any ideas?
