The C636 dload does in fact work, I've got a C567, and soft bricked. I put the dload folder on an OTG adapter. The trick with the dload folder isn't just simply putting the .App in the folder. It's more complex. Let me get you a link to the one I used (I downloaded it from a Google drive account, unzipped it, then put on OTG w/ thumb drive) booted to Erecovery, with 3 finger solute.

I just installed this after unlocking and installing TWRP but after reboot I keep getting the message to download the latest version and recovery. What's all that about? What went wrong? US version here.

It doesn't work for the US version. With US software. Only works if the C567 was rebranded to a different version.

Damn it; I should have read the entire thread first. So how do I go back now? Install another ROM I guess. Ugh

Looks like I can download the firmware directly from Huawei server and install so I'm doing that now. I will reinstall TWRP and root and call it A DAY! Just need to be able to do minor customization anyway and install apps like Adblock.

With AJ gone, is a brave and knowledgeable soul going to do a build with a newer KangVIP?

I guess this is it https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/hrt-kangvip-b173-root-t3567881
Before I sent back the phone I did build the newer b173 version. You can download it here:

https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=155674

If you dirty flash remove you lockscreen pin or password first or you may have issues with it.

Is the latest version meant to be flashed on any model? (Specifically,in my instance,MHA-L29C567B138).
Also,is the RemovedApps.zip ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634752042 ) intended for fixing your initial KangVIP B167 ROM?

It still won't work on C567.

THX for the quick reply, much appreciated.
I'm running the HRT Kangvip ROM, https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/hrt-kangvip-b173-root-t3567881.
Most everything is OK,but, seems I'm encrypted (current decrypt images fail, bootloop,or go straight to eRecovery),can't backup anything in TWRP,can't access developer options & uninstalling an app,or,simply deleting its data hotboots the device.
I can live w/it until a full flashable .zip comes along, gonna try a few things once I get to the house this evening......
