I have the same problem - *#06# does not work.
In the phone Information you can see the IMEI but it is a little bit scary that the code does not work...

Its unfotunate but one must accept that things be broken when flashing roms.

Developers do their best to make sure all important features work and well, but its just a balancing act and if this is very important to you then pehaps go back to stock for the time being.

Dont mean that in a rude way.
