Q&A

Q : Is root access included?
A : No it is not. Nothing recommended for the moment.

Q : Is the ROM suited for daily usage?
A : Nope.

Q : Google Service crashes during Setup Wizard, solutions?
A : Try to get through the setup. If it isn't possible, enable USB debugging in the developer settings and use your computer to enter these adb commands:
Code:
adb shell pm grant com.google.android.setupwizard android.permission.READ_CONTACTS
adb shell pm grant com.google.android.setupwizard android.permission.WRITE_CONTACTS
adb shell pm grant com.google.android.setupwizard android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION
Q : Google Apps keep crashing. What shall I do?
A : Go through the SetupWizard as best as you can,
  • then grant the permissions for Google Services / PlayStore.
  • Erase both apps' data and reboot if still unstable.

Notes

  • This ROM is for testing purposes and for people that cannot wait to try Android Nougat.
  • It is not recommended for daily use. Bugs will only be accepted if logs are included.
  • This build has been built with by Sony provided AOSP software binaries for Android 6.0.1. Once 7.0 binaries are released, some stuff should be fixed and optimized, I will provide regular builds.
  • Ignore the error "E: unknown command [log]" when flashing the ZIP

Hello,
I am waiting for Sony to release their Nougat software binaries which should fix most issues.
The camera is a big issue as it is very complex to repair. And even if I do get it working, it will not look very good because it will not include Sony's camera optimization (which is not open source).
Even with the binaries for 6.0.1 and with CM 13 the camera is just baerly usabale. I don't think that there will be much of a difference...

Just wondering: what about echo on the remote side during voice calls which affects Marshmallow CM build for this device? Is it somehow fixed in nougat?
Ad. camera issues, it was fixed on marshmallow thanks to oshmoun (see marshmallow thread).

On the Oneplus Two, the echoing in the other side started on 7.0 nougat an onwards. One astute user noted that the echoing was mitigated by disabling 4G/LTE bands while calling. Perhaps this has something to do with the modem handling in CM general, and especially in Nougat and onwards.

Camera

Are the (rear-facing)camera-issues the same as we saw in the earlier releases of CM13[unofficial] for z5c?
What I mean by this is: are the issues caused by the same thing(Memory allocation), or are the problems with the camera rooted in something else?

The front camera seems to be working fine (although Snapchat is the only app that seems to be able to use it). The rear camera is the main reason this ROM is not usable as a daily driver. I know because I have been using it as my daily driver for a few weeks now.

info::
-not rooted
-nano GApps
-11.09.2016 version
-TWRP_152_v2_nilezon

not working::
- camera
- bluetooth
--- those are the most important.
- seems to force reset when shutting off. First one normal vibration as screen is turned off, then three more after a second of two.

Thank you for all the hard work!

I've already seen it, but thanks. I'll compile a new Android AOSP 7.1 build soon and create a new thread.

EDIT: Building is currently not possible. Build fails with this error: ninja: error: 'device/sony/common-kernel/kernel-dtb-suzuran', needed by 'out/target/product/suzuran/kernel', missing and no known rule to make it

I was rooted on cm, and by not being rooted now I guess I just mean I don't have superSU installed or xposed or any other stuff. I think I can use a root shell via adb.
