Has anyone here tried the AOSP Android Nougat 7.0 rom? I wonder how these two compare. Ie which is more stable, fast/smooth, and also how they feature-wise compare. Is there a difference at all at this point? :p

Woa. Going from 2016-10-15 to 2016-10-17 seems to have introduced some problems for me. Ie first boot I couldn't get past the lock screen because it froze everytime I swiped the correct pattern.

On second boot that seemed fixed, but now the brightness slider does absolutely nothing :/ (edit: on close inspection, it actually adjust the brightness barely enough to be noticeable by the human eye. Everything is searingly bright all the time now :(

I did however "dirty flash" it. Its possible that a clean flash would not introduce those bugs - who knows? But I really don't want to gg through all this all hassle of wiping my entire device daily; having to configure my gpad all over again  Please tell me I don't have to do a full factory reset... :(

Install instructions:
Reboot into recovery (latest official TWRP recommended).
Wipe data, system and cache if it's a fresh install. Wipe cache and dalvik cache if you're updating from a previous build of cm-14.0.
Potentially you've missed this step mate.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately i didn't forget that.

But in other news: after putting my pad away for a while, suddenly the brightness slider was working again when i picked it up :D its really weird though. Its probably gonna come and go

Let your pad rest a bit more and it might work. Otherwise, I think your pad has seen it's best days. Just completely start fresh...format *all* completely then install again from scratch and see what happens. If it fails again...put it away for good. Just trying sarcastically to make a point. These devices don't last forever. Good luck!

Hi @fefifofum,
It seems that Simon Shields, CM's device maintainer for i9300, has found a way to fix camcorder on old devices. I saw this post at Sony Xperia S' nougat topic and I thought it might help you:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=69235202

If you have time, please take a look.

Thanks again for your awesome work!

SystemUI crashes when I turn my device into landscape mode for some reason. I've just flashed the latest build. Anyone else having this issue?

Apart form that, camera is working again (yay!).

Of course, words don't say too much, so here's a logcat.
yep.
same things.

however rom seems to already be at a very good level.
boot time is shorter than marshmallow, overall it seems to be maybe a bit faster and smoother.

yeah, still some options of customization need to be fixed (for example the ones for status bar, a part clock position, nothing else works), but i'm very happy of having nougat on this tablet.

although.. this landscape problem could push me to marshmallow.. (a tablet without landscape mode is a bit useless XD)
however thanks dev for your great work
