• If you are experiencing issues logging in, we moved to a new and more secure software and older account passwords were not able to be migrated. We recommend trying to reset your password, then contacting us if there are issues.
  • Nearly done! Migration cleanup is mostly done. There are a small number of issues left that we continue to work on, but all the heavy lifting is done. We still would love to hear feedback over at this thread and also check out the new XDA app! Thanks and we hope you enjoy the new forums, and thanks for your support of XDA <3

What is AOKP?

AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.

We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).

With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.

Features:
For one, AOKP is lightweight. Most OEMs provide a heavy UI layer over Android and have loads of bloatware (i.e. apps that not everyone use every day, but you cannot remove because they’re “baked in” by default). Since AOKP is built upon vanilla Android source, it has neither of the above.

Also AOKP has features that you will not find on your stock firmware. You can have a multitude of toggles to quickly flip a lot of your phone’s settings right at your fingertips, or you can launch apps quickly from any screen using our Ribbons.

How to install:
* You should have already upgraded you phone to EMUI 5.0 / B360 and installed TWRP
* Go to TWRP and choose wipe -> format data -> type "yes"
* Reboot again to TWRP
* Peform a factory reset
* Install the ROM (aokp_berlin_nougat_unofficial_2017-09-23_1234.zip)
* Flash gapps (you can use the package that you want, but always select 7.x & arm64 ! )
* Flash the Camera_AOSPA.zip (if you want working camera)
* Flash the vendor-honor6x_7.1.2.zip
* wipe cache + dalvik cache
* Reboot! & Enjoy!

Issues:
* Encryption
* Bluetooth
* NFC (alpha state)

Thanks,bro,but how about LTE? When I flashed RR,I can not call or receive call because of LTE..so I rolled back to stock
LTE is working with no issues for myself as well. Device is BLN-24 running AOKP. I've had no issues so far and have been running AOKP for just about a day now. Hope that helps?

Would you consider releasing the information on how you built this? I'm trying to build carbonrom for this device, and all guides I've seen are either outdated or for google devices (nexus/pixel). If you'd be willing to disclose how you're building roms for these devices, that would be much appreciated @Felix__L-01 . I'd request a CarbonRom build, but I feel as though that would be a bad thing to say as you'd be spending your own time and effort building a rom for other people without any incentive. If you'd be willing to point me in the direction of what you used to figure out how to build roms for the 6X, I'd really appreciate it.
