The scripts need to be applied ONCE after boot, make sure you have a swap set up via zram (for better battery runtime and to avoid high AndroidOS battery drain)

This ROM approach is different - LineageOS is already there for Z4, RR is based on LineageOS,
and LineageOS , like AOSP shares lots of similarities between the devices (more than the stock ROMs),
the stock ROMs have limitations, that when changing certain kernel subsystems or drivers in the ROM itself (e.g. porting from Z5 stock ROM to Z4) the device doesn't boot anymore.
I believe when porting MIUI to Z4 it must be done specifically for Z4,
porting over from Z5 to Z4 is way too much work - so it must be done from scratch for Z4
So since LineageOS is there for Z4 it was possible to build RR for Z4

turn off the device, then press VOL DOWN + Power wait for a few seconds [brightness might be much higher with the Sony logo since different kernel from TWRP],
keep VOL DOWN pressed a bit longer until it boots to TWRP
or unlock the advanced options in the boot menu and "reboot to recovery"
Not sure what the status is with 60fps but you could try out the HTC camera app, perhaps that supports it
