Do I need to have my device rooted already?
The case is: my dev is on stock firmware, and I wanna flash the ROM on it. I realize I need TWRP, but there's a way to install TWRP without rooting (with ODIN). So, what if I install TWRP with ODIN, then install the ROM with GAPPS from TWRP "Still unrooted". Is it gonna brick my device? That's one thing, the other thing is, how do I do a Nandroid backup?
Thank you.

Thank you and need a feature back

Hello devs and others,

First of all, THANK YOU so much for keeping this device alive and functioning so well, and thanks to Alberto96 too for developing the Lineage OS project for the SGS4. Great to see Android N with a fairly recent security patch. Thanks to new maintainers of the device.

I use the GT-I9500. TWRP updated to v3.1.1 and wiped all partitions and installed it RR v5.8.4, Open Gapps and Magisk v13.3. Earlier I had been using RR v5.8.4 (I think), which was based on Android M v6.0.1. Install went great with no problems. Almost all customization options working well as intended, though there are some things in RR that I never understood what they were, like the Dashboard settings.

I reduce the clock speed to 1400MHz using Kernel Adiutor to keep heat and hiccups low. Use L-Speed with a variety of settings to optimize performance and battery life with my kind of usage. Camera is a hit and miss sometimes if it freezes up. No call quality and echo issues - I never had that on custom OSes ever anyway, on my device. Standby battery life is great on Nougat in stock mode, hasn't changed much with my experiments with L-Speed. So far I'm extremely pleased with the RR. I don't expect much battery life in usage on the phone, it just lasts me a couple of hours if I'm playing media and games with the screen on continuously. I only use device with Wifi, no SIM, so I cant comment on network connectivity. Everything works fine otherwise.

I DO LIKE to report that there is one feature I sorely miss on with RR Nougat from RR Marshmallow that is somehow not present, probably to unify the code base across all devices. That is the ability to calibrate/change individual R-G-B values and the "mDNIe" function for the display. I use the display colour profiles along with the mDNIe function to enhance colours and screen sharpness and that works extremely well for me on RR Marshmallow. The default internal mDNIe profile, or lack of any, in the rom is set to "UI", where as I set it to "Gallery" or "Video" - the UI setting is very conservative in terms of the sharpness filter that's applied to the display. I set the manual DPI value to 440 (the actual physical DPI for the GT-I9500) and the text is readable and sharp enough even at the smallest size, however all other UI elements have lost their crystal clear sharpness and definition. I really miss that. I request the devs, or maintainer, to add/re-enable that feature again from the older RR code, since that code already is developed once and can be integrated easily again. Would greatly appreciate that if feasible. I can understand if that never goes into the official RR unified code base, but it may at least be added as an addon/mod.

Great work, and Thanks once again.
